Vallis Alps, the trans-atlantic project of Parissa Tosif and David Ansari, today present their latest EP, Nothing More Than Human. LISTEN HERE.

A transportative listen, throughout the EP Vallis Alps unveil an extension of music canvassed from their first album Cleave, which demonstrated their contrasting forces from states of turbulence and friction into a flourishing partnership. With this statement recast in Nothing More Than Human, Vallis Alps highlight their ability to balance the emotional and reflective with visceral, energetic electronica, which only enhances their enduring motive to connect and inspire listeners – be it daily DMs, comments, and emails see fans continuously share just how Vallis Alps have supported their most trying or rewarding moments through four brand new tracks.

Nothing More Than Human is Vallis Alps at a meditative level, an alluring foil that strikes a balance between how they see themselves as a duo and as individuals. Consciously guided, the EP is a window into the weaving of two halves, of which David shares that “”Nothing More Than Human” encapsulates how we see ourselves and each other through the highs and lows of collaboration.” A refined sense of mosaic pop amongst reflections on states of “make or break”, Nothing More Than Human’s string of singlesPulling Me BackandYou’re On My Mindpraised across triple j, triple j Unearthed, Double J, Rolling Stone AU/NZ, Music Feeds, The Music and others, strengthens the duo’s elastic sound and unique production stamp.

Joining these singles is the brand new ‘Better Better’, which finds the sweet spot in pursuit of contentment and intuitive production edits that take to a more comfortable, sparse form. Of the track, Parissa shares that, “‘Better Better’ is a reflection of proactive people and moments where I’ve felt that discomfort and strength together. How can I learn to sit in the discomfort and be more calm, gracious, and reverent during the challenges of life, while still processing the tough emotions that are tough.” Inspired by the film The Florida Project is title track ‘Nothing More Than Human’, a listen that transposes the film’s themes into values that expand within Vallis Alps’ themselves, touching on concepts including “the American “dream”, innocence, the joy of children and their perception but also lack of awareness.” David shares, “Nothing More Than Human is the titular track for the EP for a number of reasons – it was the first song we wrote post-Fable EP; we wrote it at Deep Well Studio in Western Washington, which in some sense is the spiritual home for our music.”

Since their return with Cleave, the duo together reflected on the journey of their career from viral come-up to international acclaim. Praised by the likes of NME Australia as “the sound of a band standing in its truth – the whole truth and nothing but the truth, no matter how dark and ugly it can get.” and Bandcamp for their “bold and dancefloor ready synthpop”, Vallis Alps’ proposition in capturing the emotive with the club-thumping, more inventive and purposeful than ever before.

About VALLIS ALPS

The project of Parissa Tosif and David Ansari returned earlier this year to widespread support by triple j, NME and more including, described as “breathy, airy and uplifting” by RUSSH Magazine, “pulsing electro-house” by Music Feeds, and as “bigger than anything the duo has ever done in the past and it really suits” by The Music. Cleaveis inspired by the steps Parissa and David have both taken in recent years through beginning their own families, moving abroad and building their creative careers: Parissa becoming a mother and her admittance and entrance as a practising lawyer and David’s most recent launch of his ebullient solo project Davey and Podcrushed, the podcast where Penn Badgley, Nava Kavelin and Sophie Ansari explore the heartbreak, anxiety and self-discovery of being a teenager with notable guests including Amy Schumer, Drew Barrymore, Lisa Kudrow, Mark Ronson and more.

Following on from their much-celebrated debut single, ‘Young‘ (Certified ARIA Gold), which culminated in their self-titled debut EP, the band then shared their 2017 follow-up EP Fable as well as standalone singles ‘So Settled‘ and ‘Oceans‘ which drew international praise; consecutive entries across triple j‘s Hottest 100 from 2015-17; sold out 40 date tours across the US, UK, Europe and Australia alongside appearances across SXSW, The Great Escape, Reading and Leads Festival, Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival, Groovin’ The Moo, Spilt Milk, Listen Out and more; produce remixes for Troye Sivan with ‘EASE‘ and Matt Maeson on ‘Hallucinogenics‘ alongside a cover of The Shins‘ ‘New Slang‘ for triple j’s Live A Version; and garner a discography boasting half a billion streams globally – all achieved as a fiercely independent outfit.
