Have you always wanted to be an artist? When did you get the song writing bug?
I don’t know about being an artist, but the process of writing and playing music is such an enjoyable one. In one way or another, I’ve dedicated my life to music and so far it’s been a life well spent.

Briefly describe your journey to date.
Learned bass to play along with my brother. Played in bands all through high school. Went to WAAPA in WA to study music production. Started my first solo project. Now juggling full time high school music teaching with my second solo project.

How would you describe your sound? Why do you think fans resonate with your music?
Heartfelt seems to come up a bit. But I’m hoping honest and something to make you feel.

Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today? 
Currently Mk.gee. The man reinvented the guitar.

Your latest single ‘More Than I Bargained For’ has just been released! Describe its origin and evolution. 
I found a new chord shape on the guitar and it literally fell out of me. The music came together in a night but, as always, the lyrics took me a bit longer. I wrote it about the cycles we find ourselves in friendships or relationships or dating or whatever. How we fall into the same habits, the same problems, date the sample people. All of that fun stuff.

Is there an EP or ALBUM on the drawing board?
At this stage, no. I’m happy writing and releasing as often as I feel the need without pressure or foresight.

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why? 
Leif Vollebeck. I love the way he crafts songs and plays them live. I feel like I could jam with him for hours.

What are your long-term aspirations as a music artist and how are you progressing towards them?
Make music until I’ve got nothing left to say. Then probably keep making music because it’s that damn fun.

With that in mind, what piece of advice would you give to an artist starting out? 
As a teacher, I’m dolling out advice all day every day, mostly unsolicited. Here’s my nugget of wisdom for this week – ‘perfection is a direction, not a destination’.

What is the best thing about performing to a live audience? What’s been the career highlight so far?
Nothing quite compares, when things are going well at least. When people sing your songs back at you, that’s pretty special.
