Kalila effortlessly blends neo soul roots with pop sensibilities to create one of the most exciting new artists to emerge from the eclectic Meanjin (Brisbane) music scene. Fronted by Aishya Pangestu, her soaring vocals backed by an amazing groovy band makes for an experience that forces your body and soul to be moved simultaneously. Her authenticity in the lyrics and music she makes along with her on stage presence has earned the group a loyal following in Brisbane in only the first year of the Kalila live experience.
Kalila is a 24-year-old artist and songwriter who spent her childhood years surrounded by the tropical mountains of Papua New Guinea and Gimuy (Cairns, FNQ). Influenced by her connection to nature, spirituality, Indonesian ancestry, and the sounds of jazz/neo-soul tracks – Kalila has found exploring herself through music as a form of healing and true expression.
After cutting her teeth and developing a passionate fanbase in the local scene, Kalila is ready to hit the ground running with some incredible music to be released later this year. Working with multiple different producers to develop her recorded sound, Kalila’s debut single Rush is a genre bending soul/pop tune which is guaranteed to stay stuck in your head after the first listen.
Think Sycco, Jorja Smith, Benee and Kaiit, all wrapped up and beautifully delivered in her own style – Kalila is an artist you have to keep your eye on.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
