After releasing a string of hit singles, UK indie rock outfit October Drift unveil their highly anticipated new album, Blame The Young, comprised of thought-provoking, vulnerable lyrics tied together with heart wrenching melodies and guitar riffs reminiscent of Gang of Youths and Violent Soho.

The album’s focus track,Wallflower, is an introspective anthem for the introverted, capturing the delicate and often overwhelming feelings of isolation. A poignant tribute to those who find comfort in solitude, even when it feels like the world is slipping away.

Reflecting on the song, October Drift frontman and lyricist Kiran Roy says “I guess the theme of being a wallflower, of being the quiet observer, reflects the time I was writing during lockdown. The ‘wallflower’ is watching from the wings, from ‘the safety of the car’. Seeing the ugliness, the ‘cigarettes and blood sports’ and choosing not to engage”.

October Drift have created an imposing record with Blame The Young, full of powerful songs which are their most personal yet, while also capturing a universal feeling so sincerely through Kiran Roy’s deft song writing and the band’s infectious riffs, hooks and harmonies that run throughout the record.

Earlier this year, lead single, album opener and title track, ‘Blame The Young’ proved a hit in the UK with strong support from BBC 6Music and Radio X, followed up by ‘Demons’ and ‘Tyrannosaurus Wreck’ quickly expanding their fanbase into the US and Europe, garnering attention from radio stations around the world. When Blame The Young was released globally on Friday, it was featured by John Kennedy on Radio X in the UK, as well as US radio stations KSYM, Radio DePaul, WIDR and KBOO!. Further support has come from Spotify and Apple Music playlists internationally, as well as album reviews in Rolling Stone, Stereogum, Kerrang and Classic Rock.

With songs like ‘Blame The Young’ and ‘Everybody Breaks’ reminiscent of Gang of Youths, and ‘Hollow’ invoking the loud-soft signature sound of Violent Soho, it won’t be long before Australian audiences are flocking to them too.

Now, to celebrate the release of Blame The Young, October Drift will set out on a massive UK and European tour to perform the impassioned, jaw-dropping high-energy live show that fans have come to expect.
