Robbie Mortimer.

Have you always wanted to be an artist? When did you get the song writing bug?
I wrote my first song at 13 for my high school girlfriend! It started a fire for me. I absolutely loved writing songs, listening and understanding lyrics, how they make you feel and how to channel my emotions and feelings.

Briefly describe your journey to date.
I grew up on a farm with my mum, dad and 4 older brothers on a farm in NSW. We would work on. The weekends and after school and dads old Landcruiser would blast country songs across the paddock. I fell in love with those songs as they were connected to my lifestyle and transformed into core memories. I then played guitar and wrote my own songs, caught the bug and started playing some live gigs around my hometown. I started a band with one of my brothers and the rest is history, the flame burned so brightly I just couldn’t ignore it. In 2023 I quit my job as a special needs school teacher and tried my luck at music fulltime. With my little family’s support, this dream has turned into a reality. With a lot of resilience and an ever bigger work ethic, this things I working for me and im enjoying the good, the bad and all in between.

How would you describe your sound? Why do you think fans resonate with your music?
I have an array of influences who have helped me find my sound. I love zac brown band, mixed with heartfelt lyrics and the infectious front man and pop sounds of inxs and Michael Hutchence. This has helped me form my own genre and style of music I love. I know my fans connect to my music because although I am influenced by others, I am me, its original and I do it with a smile on my face and always will.

Your latest single ‘xxx’ has just been released! What’s it all about? Describe its origin and evolution.
I wrote “This ones for you”, paying homage to my mum my dad and all the fans who have been on this journey with me. It explains how I don’t have a job without them and I show my gratitude through heartfelt lyrics.

Is there an EP or Album on the drawing board?
I have an album in the workds, no release date yet, but it will be my best work yet.

.

.

What are the signature tracks on the album, and which are your favorites to play live?
I love playing my song “You Got That love “ live, because it is interactive and the crowd can sing, dance, and feel good about hearing it live.

What tours and events are coming up? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
I have my biggest ever headline show at the Orange civic Theatre on Friday nov 29. This will be my biggest show to date, I have put a lifetime of work into it. I also have some exciting festivals booked including groundwater and meatstock. I have manifested these for a long time.

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
Morgan Wallen. His double album “dangerous” changed my life. Close second would be matchbox 20, then Michael Hutchence from inxs.
