Over the last few months Australian artist Maver has given us a two exceptional new singles ~ Lazy (with jnr.) & I’m healing (with LORA) ~ which also came with promise of his sophomore ep heading our way very soon.
That ep is titled “Spirals”, and it is being released this week alongside two previously unheard gems, ‘Damn Sad’ and ‘Short Term Memory’, which help tie this collection of songs together so perfectly well.
Like most great albums, “Spirals” isn’t just about the music, there’s also a strong mental health narrative that weaves its way throughout each of these songs, as Maver shares the emotional journey he’s been travelling over the last few years…

“Spirals is an EP that’s been a long time in the making. I started writing it in my bedroom in Perth back in 2022, during a period where I was really making progress with my mental health. A lot of the songs came from reflecting on my own experiences with anxiety and depression, as well as conversations I’ve had with friends who’ve gone through the same things. The title Spirals reflects how mental health can often feel like a downward spiral—like you’re stuck in your own head, going deeper and deeper. But it’s also a reminder that you don’t have to go through it alone. The main message of the EP is: It’s okay to be sad. Let’s be sad together, and maybe we’ll be happier.
For me, the most important thing with Spirals—and with anything I create—is that I aim to make people feel heard and understood. If I can make someone’s day slightly better or make them feel more comfortable, happier, or even just a bit more seen, then I’ll be happy. That’s my mission statement and what drives everything I do.
The songwriting process for Spirals was pretty organic. I wrote most of the tracks in my bedroom in those late-night bursts of inspiration, starting well before midnight, ending up sometimes jamming with myself at 3am. A lot of it came together spontaneously, like Damn Sad, which I made on my Ableton Push during one of those late-night jam sessions. Collaborating with close friends like LORA, Ukiyo and jnr. made the process even more special. Most of the demos we worked on stayed true to their original versions, and whenever I started overthinking and added too much, we just had to pull it back to where it was sitting originally and that was it.
In terms of inspiration, the EP was born out of a lot of personal experiences. I’ve always been pretty open about my struggles with anxiety and depression, and Spirals is a continuation of that conversation. But it’s also about wanting to make others feel less alone in their struggles. There’s this sense of comfort in knowing that we’re all going through similar things, and sometimes, just sharing that with someone can do wonders. That’s what Spirals is all about—feeling what you’re feeling, and knowing that it’s okay.” ~ Maver

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
