Have you always wanted to be an artist? When did you get the song writing bug?
Since I was a young kid, I knew I wanted to be a musician. My mum and I would pretend to be The Wiggles and I would always be Murray, the red Wiggle, because he had a guitar. We’d always be putting on pretend concerts!
I got the writing bug only a few years ago, that’s when I really dug down into it and explored that side of my musicianship.
Briefly describe your journey to date.
It hasn’t been a long one, but a good one so far! The kicker was heading up to Tamworth in 2023 to open for Simply Bushed. When I got back home I got stuck into recording my first EP, A Good Hard Look. We did a big show for that and I made the promise of an album! So work began on that straight away! I was solid on the whole folk thing back then but have taken the last year to develop my sound and let it evolve to its full potential in the country space.
How would you describe your sound? Why do you think fans resonate with your music?
I like the term “Indie/Country/Rock Sensation”, I believe that suits it well. I like to keep my music true and authentic. I don’t search for a song, I let the song come to me. By doing that, I think my writing is always raw and real which is something I believe people search for in a good song.
Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
I have always been inspired by the music and journey of Mumford & Sons. Not only their songwriting, but their stage presence and performance and also their sonic evolution throughout their albums.
Your latest single ‘Keep Getting Fooled’ has just been released! What’s it all about? Describe its origin and evolution.
Keep Getting Fooled is about this creative journey and how people don’t often take you seriously when pursuing it. A lot of people don’t consider music to be a ‘real job’ and often think its more of a hobby and that you should be going out and getting a ‘safe job’. This song is about NOT doing that, and doing your best to pursue that, even though throughout that journey you may face some harsh realities.
It began after I actually had a dream about falling over on a pile of glass shards… not pretty, I know. But that dream came back to me on a drive home one day and it all just started spilling out of me! Got home, picked up a guitar and put the song down. I think I played it with my band ONCE before deciding that this would be the next single!
Is there an EP or Album on the drawing board?
No album or EP on the horizon just yet but I’ve got a whole load more singles locked and loaded to release next year!
Your single launch was on 15th November at Blaxlands Ridge? What was that experience like?
It was insane. The original plans got rained out and it was a mad rush to find a wet weather venue but it all came together in the end with the help of this tight knit community that I’m lucky to have around me. Charley Castle & The Boys in the Well opened up the night and were AMAZING! It was so good to jump on stage with my band again!!

What other events do you have planned in the future?
I’m headed up to the Tamworth Country Music Festival at the start of next year to do a few shows! I want to do a launch show for each song I release so definitely more to come!
If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
I might sound obsessed but I’m going to come back to Mumford & Sons, but more specifically, Marcus Mumford himself. I’m so inspired by the music he writes. Even in his performance, he’s able to offer this immense power, but by the next song, invite you into a vulnerable sanctuary.
What are your long-term aspirations as a music artist and how are you progressing towards them?
We’d all love to ‘make it’ one day. I see artists like Angie McMahon, who has just won an ARIA, but back in 2017 when she released her first song, was nobody. But here she is now, playing festivals with Hozier, TWO sold out shows at the Opera House. That is my long term aspiration, to have people listen to the songs that I write on a large scale and have this community around me of people that can share in what I do. At the moment, I’m just trying to keep on releasing more music!
With that in mind, what piece of advice would you give to an artist starting out?
Put yourself out there. You are your greatest asset and if you don’t put yourself in front of people, how will anyone see you?
What is the best thing about performing to a live audience? What’s been the career highlight so far?
Oh, the energy is through the roof. I pride myself on my live performances, the rush of adrenaline when you hit the stage invigorating. And getting to play with such a talented band of musicians is pretty damn good too.
When I released my album in August last year, we did a big show at an old art-deco theatre in my local area. It was my dream as a teenager to turn it into a live music venue again so it was so cool to actually get to play on the stage there! We sold that out to 200+ people and had the time of our lives!
Here are three general questions your fans will find interesting about you:
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done? Drove an hour and a half into the city to go to a concert with a girl I’d never met….. we’ve been together for over a year now…
What is the one topic you can talk about for hours? I can very easily find myself in a ramble about my first car. I’m like a dad and ‘that car he should never have sold’
What is the thing you like most about yourself? In recent times, I’ve worked out how to look after my hair properly and its gotten pretty curly…. So I’m digging that.
