An Interview with Eddie Berg of Imminence: Touring, Creativity, and the Evolution of “The Black”

Hello, Amnplify readers! Today, I had the privilege of speaking with the extraordinary Eddie Berg, lead singer of the metalcore sensation Imminence. Known for their electrifying live performances—complete with Eddie’s incredible violin interludes—the band has made waves at festivals like Resurrection Fest, Download, Greenfield, and Sonic Temple. Having shared stages with acts like Bring Me the Horizon, Imminence is now preparing to embark on their first tour in Australia.

In our conversation, Eddie opened up about his creative process, the emotional depth of their latest album, The Black, and what it means to connect with fans worldwide.

Excitement Down Under

For Imminence, touring Australia has been a dream long in the making. “It’s something we’ve wanted to do for so many years,” Eddie shared. “Finally getting to do it is incredible.” To acclimate to the time zone and perform at their best, the band has planned to arrive a few days early—a testament to their commitment to giving fans the ultimate experience.

Building Connections Online and Beyond

Imminence’s rise isn’t just about the music—it’s about community. Eddie highlighted how online connections with fans and content creators, like reaction video makers Nathan and Johnny, have turned into genuine friendships. “It’s amazing to meet people in real life after building those relationships online,” he said.

The Evolution of The Black

The Black, Imminence’s latest full-length album, represents a culmination of their musical journey. “Every album has been a step in a new direction,” Eddie explained, “but this record feels like it brings everything full circle.”

The album dives deep into the human psyche, exploring themes of mental health and emotional struggle. “Music has always been my way of handling emotions,” Eddie said. Songs like Come Hell or High Water set the tone for the album’s dark yet cathartic exploration of inner turmoil.

Creating a Live Experience

Imminence doesn’t just perform—they create an atmosphere. Eddie described their recent European tour, which featured elaborate stage setups, dynamic lighting, and props to elevate the experience beyond a standard metal show. “We’re always looking at how we can offer something different,” he said.

The band even experimented with acoustic performances in venues like German churches, complete with string quartets and backup singers, creating an intimate reimagining of their music.

Independence and the Creative Process

Operating independently, Imminence runs their own merchandise shop and records much of their music in Eddie’s home studio. However, Eddie stressed the value of collaboration, citing producer Henrik Udd’s contributions to their polished sound.

For aspiring artists, Eddie offered balanced advice: “Being independent isn’t always the best or worst way—it depends on your resources and skills. Signing with a label early on helped us build our foundation.”

Looking Ahead

When asked about the future, Eddie expressed excitement about continuing Imminence’s creative evolution. “It’s about trusting the process and staying excited about what we create,” he said. The band’s journey so far has been one of passion, growth, and connection, and their upcoming Australian tour promises to be another milestone in their remarkable story.

Thank you, Eddie, for sharing your insights and journey with Amnplify. To all the Imminence fans out there, get ready for an unforgettable live experience when they hit Australian stages soon!
