Tasmanian artist Lasca Dry kicks off 2025 with a bang, unveiling her first single of the year, ‘Sunset Baby’ out today.

Listen to ‘SUNSET BABY’ HERE

This track is pure sonic sunshine—a playful yet fiery bop that crackles with energy and oozes charm. With a groove you can’t help but move to, ‘Sunset Baby’ is as intoxicating as the golden hour it’s inspired by.

Lasca explains, “‘Sunset Baby’ is about the blurry line between love and obsession—the kind of passion that’s beautiful, intense, and just a little dangerous.”

To match the song’s vibrant energy, the music video plunges you into a world of glowing warmth and striking contrasts.

Discussing the inspiration, “From the very beginning, ‘Sunset Baby’ was all about that perfect sunset vibe. I wrote the song with that golden hour magic in mind, and I knew the video had to capture it. With Jesse Hunniford working his magic on the lighting, we created the perfect mix of warmth and intensity, capturing the song’s cheeky yet passionate energy.”

Lasca grew up on a steady diet of guitar gods, thanks to her brother’s introduction to Led Zeppelin. This early epiphany shaped her path, igniting a lifelong love for music that’s both timeless and boundary-pushing.

Don’t be deceived by her doll-like outfits or her signature sharkfin pink guitar—Lasca’s sound packs a punch. Her music shifts effortlessly between hauntingly delicate moments and raw, groovy riffs that hit like a tidal wave.

Her journey began humbly, busking across Tasmania with her guitar in hand and a knack for improvising on the fly. From Beatles covers to live-looped originals, she honed her craft on the streets, learning to command attention with her soulful voice and dynamic energy. Over time, she built a reputation as a fearless performer, playing everywhere from cozy pubs to major festivals like Party in the Paddock, Dark MoFo, and Mona Foma.

Lasca’s career has been on a steady rise, marked by major milestones and accolades. In February 2022, she was awarded the prestigious Tasmanian ‘Live Your Dream’ grant from The Nick Balcombe Foundation, which helped propel her music to new heights.

That same year, her single ‘The Ocean’ received widespread attention, with airplay on MTV, Rage, and Triple J Unearthed. This was followed by her 2023 single ‘Pretty Face’, which was also featured on Triple J Unearthed and named Track of the Week by The AU Review. Lasca’s early breakout hit, ‘Do You Like Me That Way,’ even found its way into a Blundstone Australia campaign, advertising their new high-heeled boot.

On stage, she has supported an impressive list of artists, including Bloc Party, Weyes Blood, Paul Dempsey, Katy Steele (Little Birdy), Ben Lee, Didirri, Luca Brasi, Tim Rogers, Alex Lloyd, Kyle Lionheart, and Davey Lane. Most recently, at the end of 2024, she was selected to participate in the Womp writers camp, where she collaborated with mentors like Alice Ivy, Drea, and Kota Banks.

With a fresh lineup of material showcasing her full band’s rock ’n’ roll energy, Lasca is set for a massive year ahead, performing at festivals such as Party in the Paddock and Bass in the Domain.

And now, with ‘Sunset Baby,’ Lasca is ready to kick things up a notch. Equal parts cheeky and intense, the single signals the start of an exciting new chapter for the singer-songwriter. With new music on the horizon and festival dates booked, 2025 is shaping up to be a year of unapologetic rock ’n’ roll magic.

This is Lasca, where sunset vibes meet raw power, and every note leaves you wanting more.
