Frontier Touring are psyched to announce Sydney indie-rock duo Royel Otis will play their biggest venues to date in Australia this October, in support of their sophomore album hickey (out August 22 via OURNESS/Universal).

Royel Otis are currently on a tear through just about every overseas festival worth attending — including Glastonbury (UK), Governor’s Ball (New York City), Lollapalooza (Chicago), Fuji Rock (Japan), and more. They will then embark on their meet me in the car tour across North America before returning home to play Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena, Brisbane’s The Fortitude Music Hall, Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion and Perth’s Ice Cream Factory.

“This duo from Australia, nuts, just NUTS…” – Zane Lowe, Apple Music

“Melting together their penchant for melody with DIY mess-thetics, Royel Otis have sketched out a singular sound.” – CLASH

“Royel Otis is on one of those runs where you best get on-board, or move clear out the way.” – BILLBOARD

The tour news comes hot on the heels of the band announcing their new album hickey and the release of effortlessly infectious new single ‘car’ – a bittersweet slice of jangle pop that was named BBC Radio 1’s “Hottest Record” – landing just a year after their shimmering, ARIA Award-winning debut album, PRATTS & PAIN.

.

.

PRATTS AND PAIN was a sweeping debut with singles ‘Adored’ and ‘Fried Rice’ dominating the airwaves, followed by the legendary run that catapulted the band to indie-rock infamy, globally. Preceding the album’s release was the pair’s Triple J “Like A Version” recording, taking on Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s ‘Murder on The Dancefloor’. The performance became a zeitgeist shaping hit, reaching #1 on Alternative U.S. Radio Chart, #2 on Billboard Alternative Airplay, #5 on Billboard Rock & Alternative and rounding out at the #2 position on Triple J’s Hottest 100 of 2024 charts, earlier this year. Their twilit cover of the Cranberries’ ‘Linger’, cut for a Sirius XM Session a few months later, led the band to their first Billboard Hot 100 hit and currently has over 220 million global streams.

Their acclaim came as no surprise, whether it’s the soaring choruses that hum in your head for weeks or the tangible warmth of their melodies, listening to Royel Otis feels like falling in love with music for the first time. What followed was a huge surge in demand for their live shows. The duo played more than 100 sold out shows in 2024, selling over 100,000 tickets across Australia, U.K, Europe and U.S. They made their U.S late night television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and returned home to Australia later that year as one of the most nominated artists at the 2024 ARIA Awards, taking home four awards including “Best Rock Album” and “Best Group”, and rounded out the year with sold out homecoming show at the Hordern Pavilion.

Royel Otis have channelled everything they’ve learned from firing up audiences into their new album, hickey. True to its name, this latest project is, in Royel’s words, “naughty and romantic all at the same time. Because love bites harder than any other emotion in the world.” It is also a clear step forward for the band—cleaner, more confident, and constantly dazzling. Tracks like ‘moody’, a slacker rock and the motorik rhythms of ‘say something’ — a favourite of the pair’s to perform — showcase a refined yet propulsive sound.

Whether it is an original body of work or taking on their favourite song, the pair have cemented their status as one of the most effortless and endearing indie rock bands to emerge this decade, with a live show that transforms crowds into a unified, euphoric consciousness. “We just want to make people dance together,” says Otis. “Everyone’s invited.”
