Sydney-based Jordan Laser releases ‘Holiday’, a dark and dreamy exploration of complicated love, delivered in a smoky, cinematic style reminiscent of Lykke Li, Mazzy Star and Lana Del Rey.

‘Holiday’ is the second single from Jordan Laser’s upcoming EP, following on from ‘Howling’, both of which were co-produced with Alex Markwell (The Delta Riggs). It’s emotionally raw, quietly bold and invites listeners into a world of 90s nostalgia and modern alt-pop storytelling. ‘Holiday’ explores themes of longing, escapism and reflective solitude, told by a protagonist whose haunting vocals carry a visceral kind of honesty.

Jordan Laser explains “Holiday is about being with someone who thinks the grass might be greener somewhere else. Being in that place makes you question everything. Does this person want me, or just an escape? Am I the destination, or just a pit-stop along the way? That kind of feeling.”

Jordan’s lyrics are like arrows aimed straight at the heart, drawing listeners into a vivid, candle-lit place, evoking a mood that’s both personal and universally relatable – with lush production and the rich emotional depth of her voice, juxtaposing both strength and vulnerability.

When she was just 20 years old, Jim Moginie and Rob Hirst (Midnight Oil) saw enormous promise in Jordan Laser and subsequently took her under their collective wings to mentor her and produce her first EP, ‘Just Like Autumn’. Since then, Jordan has self-produced a string of stunning singles like ‘Battleship’, ‘Slow Motion’, ‘Under The Wheel’ and ‘100 Days of Solitude’, the latter of which was co-produced by Jack Moffitt (The Preatures) and championed by both Double J and RUSSH, who premiered the song’s hypnotic music video.

Earlier this year, her single ‘Howling’ was premiered on triple j Unearthed radio and went on to be featured on Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel’s New Music Friday on-air on Nova and their Spotify playlist, as well as Spotify’s New Music Friday. Now, Jordan Laser invites us deeper into her world as ‘Holiday’ gives us a further taste of what’s to come on her forthcoming sophomore EP.
