Leading global music distributor Xelon is proud to announce the launch of ASCENT Music, a bold new imprint label dedicated to uplifting and amplifying the voices of female, and gender-nonconforming artists.
Rooted in the belief that the music industry thrives when every voice is heard, ASCENT offers a fresh and purposeful approach to artist development – prioritising equity, authenticity, and community.
“We created ASCENT to break down the barriers so many talented artists continue to face,” says co-founder Elias Davies. “It’s not just about releases – it’s about building a more inclusive future for music.”
The label’s philosophy is built around artist-centered support, offering a range of services including dedicated label manager support, release strategy sessions, playlist pitching to DSPs, Australian community radio pitching, and more.
The first official ASCENT signing is rising art-pop artist ROMÆO, whose new single Something New is out now and available on all platforms. Her upcoming EP arrives September 10.
ASCENT’s journey began with the success of the ASCEND Competition earlier this year — an international callout that received a multitude of submissions and captured the attention of Music Australia, AIR, Music Victoria, Music SA, and QMusic. With a judging panel featuring Xelon, Golden Hour, Music Production for Women, and music producer Beatrice, Te KuraHuia was named the winner, releasing her powerful debut single Big Mana in June to critical acclaim.
From that wave of momentum, the vision expanded — and ASCENT Music was born.
Initially operating on a track-by-track, non-exclusive model, ASCENT gives artists the flexibility to collaborate while receiving tailored label support. Plans are already in motion to grow the label into a long-term signing imprint, with a strong foundation in Australia and New Zealand and global reach on the horizon.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
