Melbourne-based, alt-electronic pop provocateur Meghna is done playing nice; A World Full of Idiots is her scorching debut EP, out today.

A volatile cocktail of fury, drive, and brutal self-awareness. Across six razor-sharp tracks, the concept record dissects rage in its many forms, and calls out to anyone else who’s ever felt like screaming into the void.

To celebrate the release, Meghna will bring her new EP to life with a special free hometown performance in Melbourne this Saturday, August 23 at 12pm AEST at Queensbridge Square, Southbank. Joined by guitarist Adyn Young, the show will be a rare chance to experience the EP in full.

Produced by SB90, the EP’s sonic landscape is a twisted fusion of Berlin-club grit, hip-hop swagger, and subtle Indian influences. Together, these elements fuse into a sleek, volatile blend – glitchy trap beats, acid-laced hyperpop flourishes, and Meghna’s signature smoky vocals layered atop. She delivers a genre-defying punch to the gut that’s as cathartic as it is chaotic… and it’s sleek, dark, and undeniably danceable.

The emotional centrepiece of the EP is ‘Mountain’ – an introspective, drum-and-bass reflection on indigence and elitism. Written by Meghna at just 14 after a formative visit to Chennai, the track simmers with still, righteous anger. “There is no honour in looking away from poverty; rather, we must tackle it together.” First written as an acoustic track twinged with sadness, ‘Mountain’ has since transformed into something unbelievably urgent and defiant.

From primal outbursts and simmering impulsions, to the quiet devastation left in anger’s wake, it’s a collection of songs rooted in duality. Fury is both power and vulnerability; it’s a force of reckoning, and a moment for reflection. The EP’s title itself is deliberately tongue-in-cheek:  “When you’re angry, you feel like you’re the only one being rational, and like everyone else is an idiot.” notes Meghna. “But maybe you’re the real idiot for letting yourself get so angry over such trivial things. Maybe you’re the idiot for slamming the door, or kicking the couch. We all feel like idiots when we let anger get the best of us.”

Following up the explosive impact of her previous single ‘Road Rage’ – which received Rage’s Wild One award upon release – A World Full Of Idiots is a searing, unflinching portrait of modern fury. Anger has never sounded this good.

Melbourne based, Meghna is a multidisciplinary powerhouse: a law student, actor, and model, as complex as her sound. From multiple electrifying performances with ALWAYS LIVE to becoming the global face of DB Cosmetics, she champions both creative expression and social justice with fearless conviction. Her music has garnered national radio play on Triple J, PBS, 3RRR and more, with major outlets including Rolling Stone AU, The Guardian, NME, and VICE AU covering her rising presence in the Australian music scene.
