Yugambeh/Gold Coast-based band, Bootleg Rascal, have just revealed their genre-fusing single ‘Sapphire Boogie’ – produced by Caleb Tasker (The Terrys, Rum Jungle) and mixed by Ian Pritchett (Angus and Julia Stone, Boo Seeka).
Opening with rustic guitars and rugged percussion, ‘Sapphire Boogie’ introduces itself as an infectious roots-infused romp. However, the track soon transforms as a thudding bass line seizes the listener, leading into distorted, White Stripes-inspired guitar riffs and crackling sonic soundscapes. It’s as if the band has captured the spark of a midnight barn dance, turning sweat and dust into auditory electricity that crackles, roars, and pulls you into its blazing orbit.
Guitarist Jimmy Young shares the inspiration behind the track:
“The song was birthed during a writing trip we did down in Sapphire Beach. It started out as a bit of a foot stomping, boot-scooting jam; almost an ode to something you might hear being howled from the back corner of a forgotten roadhouse hidden somewhere in the middle of America. But the song evolved into a bit of a monster with a distorted vocal sample that tears you away to a scene that could belong in a Guy Ritchie flick. It culminates in some sort of space boogie riff that sounds like it could be the love child of Justice and Tame Impala.”

Off the back of a relentless touring schedule in 2025, the band will embark on an expansive Australian and New Zealand tour, featuring a mix of free entry shows, ticketed events, and headlining festivals Oktoberfest at Polytech Stadium, and Dunedin Beer Festival at Forsyth Barr Stadium. Tickets on sale on Friday, August 29 9AM AEST HERE.
This follows on from their nationwide Australian ‘BOOTY BLOCK PARTY’ tour and tremendous ‘Steppin Round The World’ tour of New Zealand, and the UK/EU, including stops in France, Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium and England. Additionally, they’ve played festivals such as Salty Hops, Live At The Pines, Winter Wine, and Spaced Out, and supported reggae legends Steel Pulse (UK).

AMNPLIFY – DB

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
