ARIA Award-winning indie-rock four piece Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are thrilled to announce their second album GLORY (Nov 7), and today release its latest cut – the fiery and rage-filled ‘MOTHER’ (both titles stylised all caps) along with its video that’s premiering on YouTube at 6pm AEST tonight. GLORY is an exploration of confidence, disgust, infatuation and power set against widescreen indie-rock you can strut to, and sees Teen Jesus embrace a new, messy era. GLORY is the sound of getting the bus home after a night out, mascara smeared and battery on 1%. It’s the conspiratorial eye roll you share with a girlfriend when a loser guy is talking. It’s Cher Horowitz exclaiming “Ugh, as if!” in Clueless. Also featuring ‘BALCONY’ and ‘UNSCARRED’, GLORY is out Nov 7 via Community Music / Mom + Pop – pre-save/pre-order HERE.
New single ‘MOTHER’ is unlike any Teen Jesus song you’ve heard. With guitarist Scarlett McKahey on lead vocals for the first time, its twangy, western-inspired beginnings build and burst into a fiery rage, with the band expelling so much frustration they quite literally scream at the top of their lungs, leaving no room for anyone else. On ‘MOTHER’ the band shares, “MOTHER is for every beautiful, magical lady who’s been caught in the crossfire of a man pretending to be good. It’s about the built up rage of watching incredible women being mistreated by inadequate men, over and over again since the beginning of time.”

Produced by 3x GRAMMY Award-winning, London-based Catherine Marks (boygenius’ The Record, Wolf Alice), GLORY is an album Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers say is “completely us”; the work of musicians who know exactly who they are, what they’re worth and what they want to create. Together with Marks, they locked themselves away at a home studio nestled deep in the bush on Darkinjung Land / NSW’s Central Coast for a marathon five weeks perfecting and recording GLORY, a stretch of time that allowed the band to make these songs sound exactly as they intended. Marks stoked a creative environment where the band felt empowered to say ‘no’, encouraged them to try new approaches, and, more importantly, to bin whatever they didn’t like with wild abandon, all in order to help them arrive at the truest distillation of their sound. Every vocal, every instrumental part and every lyric on GLORY emerged exactly as the band intended, their vision ringing out true and clear and their incredible musicianship taking centre stage to create the suckerpunch power you’ll hear across the album.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
