Half British/half Australian singer-songwriter Charlie Pittman drops his new single, ‘death row’, the third track lifted from his forthcoming EP ‘okay.again?’ out Friday September 19, receiving its first play on triple j Drive with Abby and Tyrone last night. The release arrives alongside the announcement of the ‘okay.again?’ Australian Tour which kicks off next month before Charlie heads to the UK for a string of shows.
Blending indie rock with alt-pop the six track EP ‘okay.again?’ showcases Charlie’s passion for songwriting and his signature vulnerability with raw candid relatable lyrics; his most honest body of work to date. Recorded in Nashville with producer Jonathan Class (Medium Build, The Wldlfe), Charlie hand-picked six wildly catchy pop-rock songs that intentionally tell a story, detailing the intricacies of love and heartbreak, navigating the journey of a relationship cycle, with each song sharing lyrical threads, that seamlessly fade into each other. “The whole EP is a cyclical thing,” Charlie says. “There’s the same motif at the start and the end, so when it ends, you’ll hear it loop back to the first song. It’s like the cycle of relationships, so with the title I wanted that double meaning. It’s like, you’re OK again, but also, OK, I’m really gonna go through this whole thing again? The whole EP is relationship focused, which is different to what I’ve done before. A lot of my other songs I take from different parts of my life, but these are about the arc from one relationship ending to another one beginning.”
‘death row’ was co-written with London based multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter Itamar Lapidot (Good Neighbours, Raye, Joel Corey) and London based singer-songwriter Francesca Morris. “death row was the first song I wrote for this project before I knew how the songs would all piece together. It begins the narrative of the EP which is at the end of one relationship before the EP takes us through a journey of a relationship cycle. death row is about that feeling where you know a relationship is coming to an end, but the conversation hasn’t been had. There’s an element of guilt about keeping feelings to yourself and the feeling that break ups would be easier if someone cheated rather than two people just drifting away or losing feelings. The metaphor of death row felt like a powerful image with me being painted as the executioner,” Charlie shares.
‘death row’ is accompanied with a live performance music video clip shot in Melbourne.

Charlie will be performing at SXSW Sydney before heading to the UK to support British indie-rock band The Manatees in October and Live At Leeds Festival on Saturday November 15. Fans will be treated to an exhilarating live show with Charlie’s full band, delivering captivating and intimate moments pierced by chaotic guitar solos and singalongs to fan favorites.

AMNPLIFY – DB

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
