Off the back of the success of recent single ‘Cool Star’, which remained in the Top 3 most played songs at triple j for 5 consecutive weeks, and received a BBC radio 1 play, Cat & Calmell return with new single ‘Hotness!!!’. The track premiered with a triple j first play on Wednesday. Listen here.
Written and produced alongside Harry Charles (Tate McRae, Dove Cameron), ‘Hotness!!!’ is about feeling sexy for your own enjoyment – a stripped-back, tongue in cheek celebration of confidence and self-possession.
“We’d never written a song purely about feeling hot and sexy for yourself—not through someone else’s eyes, not in relation to a lover, but completely rooted in your own experience of your body and sensuality,” explain Cat & Calmell, “this song became a bit of an exercise in self-possession—owning that sensuality and revelling in it.”
Alongside the release of ‘Hotness!!!’ comes a striking music video directed by Jacinthe Lau (Zion Garcia, Montaigne). Shot entirely on 16mm film, the video is a celebration of feeling powerful, sexy and unapologetically liberated in your own skin – that confidence which radiates through the duo’s choreography on screen.

Bursting onto the scene in 2020 with their breakout hit ‘dumbshit’ Cat & Calmell immediately shot into the hearts and playlists of critics around the world.

In 2025, the duo returned with the brash and unapologetic ‘Cool Star’ – the single marking a fresh sonic chapter, self-described as “neo-indie-sleaze-trap-pop-star-type-shit!”. The single held the Top 3 on triple j most played for 5 consecutive weeks, with the girls embarking on a sold-out national support slot for Camila Cabello the same month.
