Live Nation is proud to celebrate a landmark moment in Australia’s cultural and live entertainment story – the 100th birthday of Anita’s Theatre in Thirroul, NSW. Since first opening its doors in 1925, Anita’s has been at the heart of the community, transforming from a grand cinema to a roller rink, and today standing as one of the country’s most cherished live performance venues.
The venue has witnessed generations of memories, reinvention, and incredible entertainment, welcoming some of the biggest names in music and entertainment, including The Wiggles, Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, Hoodoo Gurus, James Reyne, Kasey Chambers, Macy Gray, Missy Higgins, Sarah Blasko and Paul Kelly. Anita’s Theatre has also showcased films including the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Dirty Dancing, hosted weddings, functions, film shoots, and comedians including Kitty Flanagan, Arj Barker, Tommy Little, Ross Noble, Ben Elton, Urzila Carlson, and more.
In the past three years alone Anita’s Theatre has welcomed over 160,000 fans, hosted nearly 300 shows, and showcased 82% Aussie homegrown talent.
Celebrating 100 Years
To mark this incredible milestone, Live Nation is hosting a week of celebratory live events. Culminating in a headline show from Aussie favourites Lime Cordiale.
The centenary lineup also includes the Radical Reels, Rob Beckett, Pub Choir, and Hindley Street Country Club.
Bob Mangan, Venue Manager of Anita’s Theatre, commented: “Anita’s Theatre is more than a venue – it’s a cultural landmark that has brought joy and inspiration to generations. We’re thrilled to honour its 100-year history and look forward to many more decades of unforgettable live experiences.”
Beyond its century-long legacy, Anita’s Theatre is looking firmly to the future and is committed to sustainability and positive environmental impact. The venue recently achieved Green Music Australia’s Green Venue Certification, recognising its dedication to responsible practices across energy, waste, water, food and beverage, procurement, and governance.
Anita’s Theatre 100-Year Time Capsule and Ticket Giveaway
To celebrate the centenary, Anita’s is creating a community time capsule that will be sealed in 2025 and kept safely within the theatre until it is opened in 2125. The capsule will feature:
Historic keepsakes – old posters, photos, ticket stubs and memorabilia
Today’s snapshot – letters, artwork and digital messages from locals, staff and artists
Future hopes – predictions, community letters, and notes from current performers.
The sealing will be marked at celebrations on the 22nd October, making this a shared gift to the next century.
Anita’s Theatre is also inviting fans to share their favourite memories or photos from the past 100 years for the chance to win double passes to its anniversary events. AMNPLIFY – DB

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
