Hardline Media are proud to announce, direct from the USA, one of the world’s most legendary and influential bands, the mighty POSSESSED. Possessed will be headlining 4 shows on their “40th Anniversary Seven Churches Tour” in October 2025, taking in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne (Halloween night) and Canberra.
Noted for their fast style of playing and Jeff Becerra’s growled vocals, they are often called the first band in the Death Metal genre, who paved the way for the 1980s Bay Area Thrash Metal scene, along with METALLICA, EXODUS, TESTAMENT and DEATH ANGEL. The band is also notable for featuring future PRIMUS member Larry LaLonde, who was the guitarist for Possessed from 1984 to 1987, during their most famed era.
Known for their 2 groundbreaking albums, Seven Churches (1985), Beyond The Gates (1986), and their EP The Eyes Of Horror (1987), POSSESSED have always been known as one of the most important bands from the original Death/Thrash Metal scene. After a long hiatus, the band returned on Nuclear Blast with Revelations Of Oblivion (2019). Critics praised the album and Becerra’s return, with Blabbermouth calling the album “a monstrous reaffirmation of this absurdly influential band’s original ethos that it almost defies belief”. Also from famed critic Max Morin, “Possessed deserve to be spoken of in the same breath as BLACK SABBATH and METALLICA when it comes to influence. Simply put, nobody does this as well as them and probably no one ever will. Revelations of Oblivion was exactly the reminder we all needed”.
