Hailing from Gympie in Queensland, emerging indie folk singer-songwriter Elke Louie has released her stirring debut single ‘Killing Time’ (November 7), the first glimpse from her forthcoming debut EP which drops early 2026. With a voice that carries both raw emotion and delicate storytelling, Elke blends acoustic warmth with heartfelt lyricism, crafting songs that feel both deeply personal and universally relatable. The track delves into themes of stillness, self-reflection, and the passage of time, wrapped in haunting vocals and an intimate lyrical delivery.
Elke Louie will be celebrating with a hometown launch show on Sunday 9th November at qube226 in Gympie. Recorded at Mantle Records with Clare and Lawrence of Those Folk, Elke Louie is already turning heads with her evocative songwriting and captivating vocals, collaborating with established artists like Jen Mize from The Rough And Tumble and Clare Quinn from Those Folk — both international touring musicians in their own right. Elke’s upcoming work promises to be rich with authenticity and musical depth.
“What makes Killing Time extra special for me is that it was the very first song I ever recorded as a solo folk artist. It feels like the foundation for everything I want to create moving forward – honest, reflective, and unafraid to feel big feelings. It’s a piece of me, frozen in sound, and I can’t wait to finally share it”, Elke mused. “Killing Time is probably the most vulnerable I’ve been in my songwriting. It came from a really raw place, and being able to bring it to life alongside one of my long-time idols was honestly surreal. Watching it evolve – from a tiny spark in our co-write to a fully produced, mastered track – has been such an incredible experience.”

Speaking about the collaboration, Clare Quinn said “Meeting Elke and having the opportunity to write together at the Song Muster 2022 was a real privilege.
