To cap off an extraordinary year of Blue Planet Eyes 10-year anniversary celebrations, including a sold-out 15-date national tour, The Preatures have curated an archival exhibition at Rainbow Studios in Darlinghurst, Sydney, where they’ll document their evolution as a band for the very first time. Fans can pore over a decade’s worth of live and behind the scenes photos, song books, hand written lyric sheets, set lists, instruments and the iconic costumes that the band have become famous for. Plus ask the band questions during a live and in-person Q&A, hosted by Dom Alessio, the former-triple j presenter who gave The Preatures their very first spin on radio.  

It will also be the first chance to hear Blue Planet Eyes… Live! – a limited edition double LP which captures the magic of The Preatures performing live at Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre on their recent Blue Planet Eyes 10th Anniversary Tour.

With this record, The Preatures reassert their place as a defining band of the 2010s, blending nostalgia with renewed energy, and delivering a live record that brims with chemistry, charisma and soul. The recording showcases why The Preatures have built their reputation as one of Australia’s most electrifying live acts, with the raw energy and connection between band and audience preserved in stunning detail. Mixed by guitarist Jack Moffitt, you can feel the palpable, electric energy of global hit, ‘Is This How You Feel’, the smoky, visceral and pulsating beat of ‘Rock And Roll Rave’ and the fever of fan-favourites like ‘Somebody’s Talking’, ‘Better Than It Ever Could Be’ and ‘Cruel’, as well as a stunning cover of Prince’s ‘When You Were Mine’.

The Preatures’ Isabella Manfredi says of the album “A few shows into the tour we realised just how special this moment was. We ended up recording almost all the shows on the tour, but Melbourne really stood out as a hero performance. It was a sensational crowd, almost supernatural in feeling, and we wanted the essence of that audience to live on through the record forever.”

Released in 2014, Blue Planet Eyes introduced The Preatures to the world with its infectious blend of 60s R&B and country-inflected pop-rock. The album garnered widespread critical acclaim, and a devoted global following crossing genres and generations, thanks to its irresistible hooks, timeless sound and standout tracks like ‘Is This How You Feel?’, ‘Better Than It Ever Could Be’ and ‘Somebody’s Talking’. Debuting at #4 on the ARIA charts, Blue Planet Eyes also earned four ARIA nominations and a J Award nomination, with a further two songs placing in triple j’s Hottest 100 in the year of their release (‘Is This How You Feel’ #9 in 2013 and ‘Somebody’s Talking’ #29 in 2014).

With their songs ringing out around the world, it was clear The Preatures had found ‘it’: an inexplicable but totally identifiable thing. Suddenly, they had gone from playing clubs for hundreds of people to performing in front of tens of thousands. Revisiting their iconic debut album for its 10-year anniversary was a significant milestone for the band and their dedicated fans, featuring the original line-up of frontwoman Isabella Manfredi, guitarist Jack Moffitt, bassist Thomas Champion and drummer Luke Davison, as well as the return of guitarist Gideon Bensen, who departed the band in 2016, adding an extra layer of excitement for long-time fans.

After selling out their 15-date ‘Blue Planet Eyes’ 10th Anniversary shows, The Preatures are back by popular demand with an additional performance at The Croxton Bandroom in Naarm Melbourne on Friday 28 November, performing their break-out debut album in its entirety, along with a collection of their much-loved hits, covers and a collaboration with some very special guests, who will be revealed on the night. Rising Melbourne punk duo Public Figures also join the line-up, after a public search for a support act drew countless submissions from bands and fans alike.

The Sydney five-piece have also just been announced to perform at Tasmania’s Party In The Paddock and Sydney’s Twilight at Taronga in February. These shows are the final chance to catch The Preatures playing their Blue Planet Eyes setlist before they hit the studio to record their third album.
