Till Lindemann is best known as the lead singer of German band Rammstein but this current tour of Australia,  Meine Welt 2026 showcases his solo work only. For a Tuesday night the entertainment centre was full,  not only with those seeing Till but also with Nick Cave and the bad seeds playing in the Arena adjacent. This led to two different queues for entry but then joined up inside leading to confused patrons who were there for Nick cave wondering why there were attendees in Black Tees promoting metal bands.

Opening act Mélancolia took to the stage shortly after  8pm after a 5 minute percussive heavy electro instrumental played prior to them coming on stage. Their melodic deathcore set was a short but ferocious 30 minute set with the lead vocalist entering sporting a white fur coat which was soon discarded as he scaled a small platform for much of his delivery. I found my attention wavering between him and the bass player who had a similar ripped arm and upper body covering but with a “bullet wound” on his forehead.

After a 30min intermission whilst the stage was reset, the light dimmed and background music played as the band entered all wearing Black leathers and military vintage style caps. The band were tight with military precision throughout the night.

The night started off with “Fat” and there were accompanying  graphics projected onto big screens behind the band. At the end of the first song Till grabbed the Mic stand and with brute force bent it back and forth till it snapped. This was a sign of what was coming during the performance with the work cut out for the stage crew. One in particular was busy all night sporting a black Helmet with Mic holder attached on top whose job it appeared was to retrieve the Microphones as they got thrown to the ground and into the crowd and place them back onto his helmet and take his place submissively on the stage waiting for Till to retrieve them for the next song.

Much of Tills work consists of tracks with large Dynamic volume ranges with period of relative quietness followed by thumping Industrial beats with the guitars and bass marching on the spot whilst the keyboard player up on the raised platform spent time when not playing the keyboard limbering up  with leg raises, contortion and all manner of provocative moves. The Drummer was relentless in punishing the drum kit with every heavy stroke and Drumsticks were replaced at a rapid pace with many not even lasting a song. It was also an interesting orientation with the drum kit positioned side on to the Audience rather than traditionally facing the Audience.

The setlist tonight appears to be the same as the other shows on the Meine Welt tour which is not surprising given the accompanying graphics that are played alongside. Approximately  half the set was from his earlier collaborations with Peter Tagtgren from the albums “Skills in Pills” and “F&M” with the rest of the tracks from his new Album “Zunge 2025” released under the full name Till Lindemann..

The whole performance,  both aurally and visually was quite provocative which is not surprising given the track titles and accompanying lyrics for tracks “Golden Shower”, “Praise Abort”  and “Prostitution”. Vocal delivery of the songs was a mix of English and German with his unmistakable deep vocals very familiar sounding to the crowd, most of who are fans of Rammstein also.

Special mention to a few moments, with the Cake throwing into the crowd at the end of “Allesfresser” with the band members coming to the front of the stage and throwing cakes at the crowd, many of whom seem to cherish the moment. I narrowly avoided being hit but the couple next to me copped one right in the face – they didn’t seem to mind though and smiled as they licked off the mess.  Not to be content with cake throwing, the Drummer Letz then came to the front of stage with his Prosthetic Genitals and pulls out fake used tampons and throws them into the crowd. If you weren’t shocked by the cake throwing this action took it up a level.

During the playing of “Platz Eins” Till joined the crowd floor level with a camera live streaming on his head as he walked through the audience shaking hands and giving people appreciative hugs. This sort of interaction is probably not something that could ever happen at a Rammstein show given the crowd numbers.

In the final encore we had our last bit of provocative theatrics during “Fish on” with the drummer moving from behind the kit and kneeling on top of a trolley with a Horse head mask on whilst fish are being pulled out his rear end by a “Doctor” and thrown into the crowd. I’ve been told that for the Australian shows these are Rubber fish unlike what they are allowed to use in Europe. Till Lindemann then assisted in throwing the fish into the crowd.

There is no doubt that Till Lindemann has full command of the stage throughout the evening with menacing theatrics and at times maniacal delivery. It was a brutal in your face spectacle that is not easily forgotten. It was a crazy 90 minutes of performance art, Industrial Riffs, heavy music and visuals designed to shock and on that front it succeeded.

The performance finished at the same time as Nick caves adjacent and the crowd from Lindemann merged with the Nick cave fans with very different stories to tell.
