Scientists and Surrealists
set to bring you a
special night of sound,
vision & collision with
SURREAL SCIENCE
this April
Melbourne, Sydney, Perth
– this April
.

Surreal Science is an off-the-rails salvage job, fashioned into a beautiful cinematic work of abstract sound and vision, featuring the live sounds and performances of three drummers, three guitarists, two bass players and two vocalists – with all of them drawing on a repertoire of 160 songs to create a never-to-be-repeated experience!
The stage is set for seamless transitions between the various iterations of The Surrealists and The Scientists as they pummel, glide, and burn their way through a transcendent set that is built thematically and dynamically, rather than sequenced chronologically, describing their evolution.
The Scientists belligerently eschewed standard melody for minimalism, brutality and abstraction but remained staunchly Rock and Roll. They travelled to the other side of the globe, exploded and imploded, along the way paving the way for Seattle grunge, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Dinosaur Junior, Spaceman 3 and scores of others….
.

The Surrealists …well…. they took up the Scientists’ cudgel and belligerently wielded it in their own image! Every performance for them was a salvage job, but melody and musician chops weren’t as much to be tossed aside as they were for their predecessors! It was all music let’s face it! It was all fair game! They realised very quickly that they needn’t paint their abstraction with someone else’s palette. And what a sonic picture they painted!
This special show will take place in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth in April, featuring two-hour-long sets with an intermission. Guitarist Tony Thewlis; bassists Boris Sujdovic and Stu Thomas; drummers Clare Moore, Greg Bainbridge and Phil Collings; along with production engineer Hepburn and vocalist/guitarist Kim Salmon, will appear in tandem with a visual presentation of the passed, present and future of both of these bands before, during and after the show, projected onto, behind and above their performance. Not a tribute but a recognition of their part in this ever-evolving story.
Surreal Science presents the story, not as a narrative but as an immersive, inside-out, backwards, upside-down, sensational experience. With Surreal Science, you’ll find your mind! Kim Salmon

AMNPLIFY – DB

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
