‘A true genius’ – Dancing Astronaut

OPIUO is hitting Australian soil for a string of East Coast shows this April and May.

The ‘pioneer of future funk’ captivates dancefloors and airwaves worldwide, and is bringing his 5 musical comrades with him. The Opiuo Band will perform in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns from the 21 April through to 6 May.
Off-the-back of a North American tour, The Opiuo Band are armed with a stack of brand new music and a completely new live show. The 5-piece band create the perfect blend of raw, exciting live instrumentation, with the adventure of electronic music and a killer live performance.

The internationally acclaimed artist stormed onto the scene in 2010 with his single ‘Robo Booty’. His debut EP Slurp and Giggle was nominated for Best Independent Dance Album at the AIR Awards, and follow up release, album Meraki, took out Best Electronic Album at the New Zealand Music Awards.

Their latest album Omniversal is hard hitting electro funk, techno smothered instrumental soul and deeply melodic.

With three studio albums under his belt and worldwide praise, Opiuo has sold out shows right across North America & Australasia, shared stages with the likes of Moby, Pete Tong, Bassnectar, Pretty Lights and Bonobo, and has toured the planet, playing some of the biggest festivals including Coachellaand Glastonbury.
