Tora – Amsterdam (Single Review)
“Won’t you please support me, please support me. Weak at my knees, weak…”
Amsterdam is the new single unleashed by Byron Bay electronic blazers Tora. This five piece is no stranger to the stage, playing 70 plus festivals and headlines shows across the globe, including the EU, US and Canada since their beginning in 2013. Tora have had major success especially the last two years, playing festivals like Glastonbury 2015, and supporting RUFUS nationally while selling out their own national tour. With the release of Amsterdam mid this month, their highly-anticipated debut album is scheduled for release towards the end of this year… And what a long wait it will be!
With a combined 20 million streams, Amsterdam follows the bands previous hits, Poly Amor and Twice and proves once again that Tora are here to stay! The four minute track is hauntingly melodic and captivating all in one, self-produced by the band. From the start, you are introduced to the soulful, intricate lyrics that perfectly accompany the spellbinding sounds of the electric guitar and not before long, you are filled with the addicting electronic sounds that flow with the relaxed beats of the backline and a gentle falsetto.
“Going down now like before, it’s alright. Throw me down like before, it’s alright…”
There’s no doubt that Amsterdam is everything Tora is about, continuing to solidify their status as a major electronic act in Aussie music!
Amsterdam, Tora. I’m loving it. Go check it out!
