Statement from SAVE OUR STAGES NSW
Today the NSW Government announced a lifeline for independent live music venues across NSW in the form of financial support.
After campaigning the NSW Government for financial support over the past six months, we are thrilled to hear of today’s $24 million commitment which is not only a win for the industry but also the people of NSW.
We would like to thank the NSW Government, the Treasurer and the Minister for Tourism for their commitment to save our state’s live music venues, the thousands of jobs connected and the future of our industry which contributes $3.6B to NSW’s economy.
We would also like to thank our many dedicated supporters across the community, industry and government who have helped spread awareness about our cause along the way.
After six years of lockout laws and more recently, stringent COVID safety measures and social distancing, many of our state’s live music venues were at breaking point and facing the possibility of permanent closure with the end of JobKeeper.
While the road to recovery is still long, we are buoyed that the NSW Government recognises the importance of our live music venues and cultural infrastructure, similar to what we have seen with our counterparts in Victoria.
It is essential that we do all we can to protect our live music venues which bring people together and provide an essential space for music, culture and community to flourish.
Save Our Stages NSW is made up of 74 independent live music venues including the Oxford Art Factory, the Enmore Theatre, Venue 505, Camelot Lounge and CrowBar.
Last year, our e-Petition asking the NSW Government to support the state’s live music industry received over 20,000 signatures in 30 hours. We also successfully rallied the community to send over 6,600 letters to their local MPs.
We keenly await further details of the financial package to be announced and look forward to continuing our work in collaboration with the government, to support our venues and artists, safeguard our industry and save our stages.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
