Now Open for
Senior Student ApplicationsWhen it comes to wanting a career in country music, the CMAA Academy of Country Music is where many of our biggest stars started their professional journeys.
Applications are now open for the 2025 Academy of Country Music Senior Course where more than 25 students from across Australia, the US and beyond will learn from the best of the best in the Australian music industry.
This 12-day immersive experience will be held in Australia’s Country Music Capital from January 6-17 in the lead-up to the Tamworth Country Music Festival, providing aspiring artists with an opportunity to refine their skills and connect with industry professionals and peers.
Academy Director Lyn Bowtell said The Academy experience was life-changing for all students.
“The Academy is more than just an educational program; our students don’t just learn about music—they discover who they are as artists,” she said.
“Many participants say it’s the moment where everything comes together for them. They leave the Academy not only with new skills but with lifelong connections and friendships.”
The Academy Senior course offers participants aged 18 and over an unparalleled experience in the heart of Australia’s country music scene. Over 12 days, students will engage in practical workshops, masterclasses in songwriting, performance, and music business, and will collaborate with some of Australia’s most celebrated country music artists, musicians, songwriters, and mentors.
“The Academy provides an environment where students from all over Australia and beyond come together, and for many, it’s the first time they truly feel understood as musicians,” General Manager Roger Corbett said.
“It’s about finding a sense of belonging. We consistently hear from graduates that they’ve found their ‘tribe’ here, and the experience propels them forward in ways they never expected. The friendships, the mentoring, the performances—it’s a complete journey for the students.”
Students will learn from industry professionals including Director Lyn Bowtell, General Manager Roger Corbett and Group Leaders Duncan Toombs, Gretta Ziller, Anthony Snape and Simon Johnson.
The program is open to emerging artists, songwriters, and musicians aged 18 and over who are serious about advancing their careers in country music. Applicants should demonstrate a strong passion for country music and a commitment to developing their craft.
Applications close on September 30 and prospective students can head to www.academycountrymusic.com.au to apply and find out more.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
