‘COLD LOVE’
exploring heartbreak and heartache

Indigenous Mapuché Chilean / Australian singer and producer Leni Garrido, AKA LENI, is a powerful and inspiring positive force. Forged through his rich talent and creativity, Leni delivers an infectious and dynamic mix of dreamy RnB meets Folk-Pop, sonically evoking an affinity between Frank Ocean and The Weeknd.
Today Leni releases the smooth and melodic debut single, ‘COLD LOVE’ off his forthcoming 9-track EP titled Greenlights.
‘COLD LOVE’ is a heartfelt, song about lost love, underpinned by Leni’s extraordinarily crisp and emotive vocals. The track takes the listener through the journey of the bittersweet feeling that comes with breakups, emotively and sonically traversing sadness, heartbreak and new beginnings.
Musically, ‘COLD LOVE’ utilises a smooth intricate drum beat, fused with high-tone guitars that despite the subject matter, being about something ending, it also elicits a distinct feeling of hopefulness. The track also features Leni’s good friend and award-winning songwriter Kahl Wallis (The Medics).
LENI says he is excited ‘COLD LOVE’ is in the world and explains his inspiration behind it.
“It’s a breakup song but it’s not. When I came out of a very long serious relationship I moved in to live with my good friend for 6 months by the beach. I had a tiny room only big enough for my bed and my computer. I started writing and recording a song a day and this is one of the songs that came out.”
“It’s about the balance of life and crazy (good/bad) feelings that love can make you feel. Especially the perspectives that come out of a bad breakup and a new start. Kind of like a detox or cleansing of your entire self.”
LENI will be releasing his debut EP, Greenlights in August and explains two distinct things that inspired this impending release.
“The EP came into being from, Covid Lockdowns and reading Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey
“I wrote a lot of these songs in Covid when like many people I really wasn’t sure what the future would hold, but reading Greenlights inspired me and I wanted to acknowledge that with not knowing what was next there is a great freedom in that. So, all these songs have a sense of optimism to them and I can’t wait for audiences to hear them”, Leni said.
The single is also accompanied by a lyric video and visuals that perfectly represent the feeling of the song.
