19-year-old British sensation Alfie Templeman has today shared his acclaimed debut album Mellow Moon via Chess Club Records/AWAL, alongside the music video for latest single Colour Me Blue.
Alfie’s BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge performance aired last night, where he played Colour Me Blue which is currently on the BBC Radio 1 A-List, as well as a cover of Harry Styles’ As It Was.
Commenting on Mellow Moon, Alfie says: “It’s pretty much impossible for an album to define who you are when you’re 19, but I think the real message I want to say with this record is that I’m still figuring my life out, and the ride has only really just begun. I learnt so much about myself since starting Mellow Moon, and I hope that you will too! Here’s to learning much more.” He adds of the brand new Colour Me Blue video, also out today, “I am done with running. Running is no longer me and I do not associate with it. But it was a great time filming the video, and Martyn my dad made a little Cameo too so see if you can spot him!”
Last week, Alfie partnered with Amazon Music and Twitch on ‘Welcome to the Mellow Moon’ – a large-scale virtual world purpose built in the #1 best-selling video game of all time, Minecraft. In the game, Alfie and his band performed songs from the new album live via their bespoke custom Minecraft avatars in true festival style, alongside performances from an exclusive selection of the most exciting artists handpicked by Alfie himself including The Vaccines, Thomas Headon, Everything Everything, Coach Party, Phoebe Green, Matilda Mann, L’objectif, the legendary Todd Rundgren, and more.
The breakout star will be heading to Australia for the first time this June to perform as special guest for The Wombats in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane. He will also take the stage for two exclusive headline shows on Tuesday 14 June at Oxford Art Factory in Sydney, and Thursday 16 June at Howler in Melbourne. This follows the completion of his first ever UK and European headline tour which included sold-out shows in Manchester, Bristol, Brighton, and his biggest UK show to date at the capital’s Shepherds Bush Empire.
With well over 150,000,000 streams worldwide and a hit tour supporting Chloe Moriondo in North America under his belt already, Alfie Templeman’s global appeal is reaching fever pitch with over 3,000,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. With only releasing his debut single Like An Animal in 2018, he has, with every thrilling move ever since, now fully cemented his position as the teenage icon of his generation. Combining indie-boy-next-door aesthetics with peerless musicianship – entirely self-taught, he plays no less than eleven instruments (recently taking up the flute) and also contributes heavily with production and co-production duties on Mellow Moon – Alfie pushes boundaries like no other teenager.
