17 year old rising star Alfie Templeman has today continued his outstanding and prolific run of form in 2020 with the release of brand new track ‘Shady’ – which was produced by none other than Jungle’s Tom McFarland – listen here.

Speaking about ‘Shady’, the prodigiously talented young musician, songwriter, producer and performer said: “It’s about trying to stay true to myself, doing what I wanna do in my life and trying to avoid all the arguments and shady people that come with it. No more negativity, more making sense of the past and enjoying what the present has to offer.”

Jungle’s Tom McFarland – whose band began their career on Chess Club – added: “Working with Alfie on this track was really fun. We started collaborating together on ‘Shady’ as lock-down hit the UK so everything was very uncertain and weird but making music always helps you through those times. He’s a great kid with undeniable talent and I think this song really shows the world where he is heading artistically. I was very humbled that he wanted to work with me and that he was such a big fan of Jungle. It’s a privilege to work with people that you respect.”

This new single follows Templeman’s riotous, which is also currently Greg James’ Tune Of The Week on BBC Radio 1. ‘Forever Isn’t Long Enough’, with its undeniably catchy funk groove and disco rhythms, may sound breezy but the lyrics tell a different story.

2020 has proved a breakthrough year for Alfie Templeman, ‘Forever Isn’t Long Enough’ premiered as Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record In The World’ and currently Greg James’ Tune Of The Week on BBC Radio 1. It’s his third consecutive Hottest Record – in September, following his first two Radio 1 playlist adds earlier in the year for ‘Happiness In Liquid Form’ and ‘Obvious Guy’.

‘Forever Isn’t Long Enough’, with its undeniably catchy funk groove and disco rhythms, was met with rapturous praise from the likes of CLASH (“the rising songwriter seems to have that knack of combining fizzing, sugar-sweet melodies with an emotional pang, a kind of addictive melancholy”),  Dork (“the latest offering from the seventeen year-old pop prodigy, as he continues a rapid ascent to the very top”), The Line Of Best Fit (“Alfie Templeman continues to dominate the indie scene”), NME, DIY, and Gigwise amongst others.

Templeman was recently revealed as one of the artists featured on the soundtrack to FIFA 21, and also graced the front cover of Dork Magazine’s October issue with further features in The Telegraph, Loud And Quiet and Notion. Templeman has also just surpassed the 50,000,000 cumulative streams mark across his releases and has over 1,000,000 monthly listeners, cementing his position as UK indie’s brightest light and most meteoric risers in recent memory.

Aside from BBC Radio 1 (where he has amassed over 200 plays), Bedfordshire-born Templeman has enjoyed support from BBC Radio 2, BBC 5Live, BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio X, Beats 1, and more, helping to grow his global fanbase past the 100k mark on Instagram since his first post in 2019 alone. He was handpicked by Apple from a global shortlist of rising artists to front their #shotoniphone campaign last year – the coinciding music video for ‘Stop Thinking (About Me)’ has now amassed over 3 million views – and was chosen by YouTube Music to be a worldwide ‘Foundry Artist’ in 2020, following in the footsteps of artists such as Dua Lipa and Rosalia, featuring on 90 foot billboards in Times Square in NYC and Central LA. In February this year, Templeman was H&M Artist of the Month in the UK, with accompanying store visuals and playlist support.
