Melbourne-based producer and vocalist Alice Payne has dreamt about the release of her debut album for as long as she’s been making music. Through what felt like an eternity of lockdowns, Alice found the time to finally learn the intricacies of music production.
The result is a uniquely dreamy, tranquil, and ruminative forthcoming debut album, entitled ‘Wonderland’. Scheduled for release on 14th January 2022, the album was entirely a solo endeavour, with Alice using a bare bones setup consisting of her laptop, midi keyboard and microphone.
Sonically, it’s a clash of styles and influences, reeling in elements of pop, electronic, and synth-wave. Thematically, the 11-track project pivots between themes of self love, gratitude, all while radiating a comforting hue of positivity in both her performance and lyricism.

From the beautifully melodic and upbeat synth work of ‘Intertwine’, the otherworldly sonic escape of ‘Manifest’, which draws many comparisons to the work of Billie Eilish, and the deeply electronic, downtempo production of the title track ‘Wonderland’, the LP provides an compelling snapshot of Alice Payne’s ability to dream big, and musically execute with unfaltering emotion.
