Today, acclaimed rapper Allday has dropped a brand new single and announced details of his highly anticipated second album, along with headline tour dates in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth & Brisbane in July.

Premiering on triple j’s Good Night’s last night, In Motion features electro wunderkind Japanese Wallpaper, who will join Allday on his album tour, along with Nicole Millar and a special guest. In Motion is the third track to be lifted from his forthcoming LP Speeding, slated for release on April 21 via ONETWO.

Known for being nothing but himself, Allday is an honest, charismatic and skilled lyricist with a contradictory combination of motivation and mellowness. Originally from Adelaide and now LA-based, he’s been building a devoted following since dropping a slew of singles, EP’s and mixtapes back in 2012/3. His debut full-length Startup Cult (2014) cemented him into the hearts – and heads – of music fans, landing at Number #3 on the ARIA Charts, scooping up over 22 million streams and selling over 20,000 copies in Australia alone. It spawned big singles ‘Right Now’ and ‘You Always Know The DJ’, both high rotation radio favourites all around the country. Since the release of Startup Cult, Allday has sold-out national headline tours, toured the USA and slayed local festival stages. After all this, expectations surrounding his next moves are sky-high, to say the least.

His latest, Speeding, will be released by ONETWO – the label spearheaded by ARIA Award-Winner, Illy. It’s available to pre-order now on vinyl, CD and digital via 24 Hundred, JB Hi-Fi Online and iTunes. Showing unwavering love for his fans, Allday is offering every person who pre-orders Speeding the chance to win an invite to one of his special listening parties held in capital cities around the country in April. Fans will have the opportunity to hear the new record in its entirety before anyone else, and party with Allday and special guest DJs.

Speeding was recorded in Melbourne and produced by a collection of collaborators headed by Cam Bluff and Mitch Graunke, who worked side-by-side with Allday to shape its sound. The production team also included Japanese Wallpaper, Toronto’s Francis Got Heat (Little Simz, Roy Woods), and Feki among others. Rob Kinelski (Big Sean, Joey Bada$$, Vince Staples) mixed the record.

“Speeding is what happens when a drug addled and depressed rapper starts listening to country music and Nick Cave.” says Allday of the album, “For me, it was often difficult to make because, whether or not you can hear it, I had to grow a lot to get the music to where I wanted it. We were much more selective with sounds this time around.”

“For a long time I’ve tried to experiment with songwriting versus rap writing, and I think I found a nice balance in some moments on this record. For the most part I stayed away from a lot of my usual songwriting crutches: growing up and trying to “make it” etc,” he said. “Speeding is a deliberately vague chronicle of a difficult time in my life, but at this moment I can say I like it a lot, and I’m hopeful people will enjoy it too. May I never again take 3 years to release an album.”

After giving us a taste of the album via his singles ‘Raceway‘ and ‘Sides‘ a few months back, Allday has just delivered ‘In Motion’, which has been released far and wide on all streaming services today, after it’s premiere play on triple j’s Good Nights. Allday said, “I made In Motion with Japanese Wallpaper, he’s a genius and a very sweet, gentle person, just like his music. After he began the instrumentation, it took me a long time to write the lyrics, and I mean months, I would just leave it and then something would happen and I would know it could go in the song. So basically the song had to happen in real life before it happened in the song. When it came time to record I still hadn’t written the little pre-chorus part, but that came to me like a lightning bolt – “unsealed, congealed… holy shit nobody ever says congealed” – and that’s when I knew I had an OK song.”

This July, Allday will be joined by Japanese Wallpaper, Nicole Millar and a soon to be announced ‘special guest’ for the Speeding Tour – his biggest tour yet, supported by triple j. Allday has a history of selling out shows way, way in advance, so fans are advised to move fast.

Japanese Wallpaper – When Gab Strum began recording as Japanese Wallpaper at age 15, he could not have predicted what followed — coveted slots at Falls Festivals, Splendour in the Grass and Laneway festivals; praise from personal idols Lorde and Gotye; a Hollywood movie soundtrack spot that came before his Year 12 exams, and winning triple j Unearthed High in 2014. Nicole Millar – Electro chanteuse. Indietronica muse. Pop boss. Nicole Millar has established herself as one of Australia’s most buzz crossover acts in only three years. The mysterious Sydneysider, became a household name when she co-wrote and sang Peking Duk’s 2014 mega-anthem High, which would be certified multi-platinum, score an ARIA for “Best Dance Release”, and land at #2 in triple j’s Hottest 100 poll. In  2015 Nicole released Wait – auguring summer’s Tremble EP. The title-track, a future bass banger, dominated triple j’s playlist and clocked up five million streams on Spotify. 2016 saw Nicole returning with her second EP, Communication– led by Signals getting the most-played nod on triple j for 3 weeks.
