‘THE GREAT DEPRESSION’
.
.
A pulsating, razor-sharp slice of alternative rock, the brand new single THE GREAT DEPRESSION from heavy-hitters Alt. is by far their most expansive sonic outing yet.
Laden with electronic hues, glossy grit and shimmering darkness, THE GREAT DEPRESSION marks the first new music from the Adelaide group since unleashing the commanding track WRAITH in 2022 alongside the news of the group signing with Resist Records in Australia, and SharpTone Records for the rest of the world.
Also accompanying the new single today, Alt. have unleashed a dynamic music video, capturing both the track’s emphatic themes and the group’s searing live energy.

“THE GREAT DEPRESSION is about the ever-growing cases of anxiety and depression in the world,” shares Alt. vocalist Daniel Cullen-Richards of the group’s latest release. “Social media and the pandemic are playing huge rolls in the decline of mental health everywhere. Some people are looking to death to end the suffering in the war against our own mind.”
Produced, mixed and mastered by Callan Orr at Avalanche Studios, THE GREAT DEPRESSION is a scintillating step into 2023 for Alt., showcasing their depth and technical breadth in equal measure. And fans can expect to witness this brand new single live in action this Autumn, with Alt. set to join American rockers Saosin on their Australian tour this March, visiting some of Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth’s most iconic venues.
Following the release of their 2020 EP dysfunctional, with critics praising the band’s versatility, instrumentation, energy and sparkling production, Alt. have spent years honing their signature brand of punk, pop, electronic and alternative rock since first erupting onto the scene back in 2019.
2022 saw Alt. join Northlane for their national Australian tour alongside Sleep Token and Plini, with an appearance also under their belts last year performing with Karnivool, Cog and sleepmakeswaves at Adelaide’s Thebarton Theatre.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
