Enigmatic indie electro pop band Alter Boy have returned with another electrifying track set to ignite the senses, ‘Prepare The Moon’ is a love song dedicated to its self-demoralising author and Alter Boy singer Molly Priest, from the imagined perspective of a selfish ex-lover.

Molly comments, “I spent many years writing love songs and preparing gifts and accolades for entitled and arrogant men, so I wanted to write a love song for the self I was at that time. To recall myself from the perspective of the person receiving me, naïve and pining, fresh off god and searching for a surrogate. I think the person who is infatuated and desperate to please is degraded for building that kind of attachment, but this song is like ‘hey you thought you were entitled to it, this is embarrassing for you'”.
On the surface they create a highly accessible brand of electro pop, the sort you can dance to, snuggle up in bed with and introduce to your significant others. Alter Boy’s take on 21st Century contemporary noise is as woozy and charming as it is innovative, as dense and muscular as it is accessible, and as take-you-away from the humdrum and anxiety of modern life as it is challenging and thought provoking.
“Different frequencies of sound induce different states in people,” Molly says. “There’s a lot of frequencies we can’t hear, but that doesn’t mean the silence doesn’t affect your reality. I like that we’re seen as accessible, that people think we play pop music, because we do. We also play music that aims to help people step outside their subjective reality and see the world differently.”
Alter Boy embody the concept of the seven heavens around which their upcoming debut album is based. They offer their audience a journey from stability and certainty to renewal through annihilation, with each single leading the listener closer to enlightenment.
I Don’t Live Here Anymore is a eulogy to the relentless death of the self. At the core of Alter Boy is singer, lyricist, auteur and brooding stage presence, Molly Priest, who defines her mission as an artist as, “…tapping into the collective unconsciousness.”
The album is constructed of four movements which reflect Irvin D. Yalom’s four existential fears – freedom, death, isolation, meaninglessness. It is suggested that these four ultimate concerns are the inescapable subconscious drivers of the human experience.
Recent singles ‘Don’t Hurt Me (I Used To Be A Baby)’ & ‘Life Finds A Way’ have received support from triple j Home & Hosed, Rolling Stone Best New Music, Backseat Mafia, Purple Sneakers, Pilerats, and triple j Unearthed Track of the Day.
To celebrate the release of their debut album, the Perth outfit are embarking on a nationwide tour, performing music from the album to audiences for the very first time.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
