Marking its third year, ALWAYS LIVE announces its 2024 return with an epic 17-day statewide celebration of contemporary live music, set to take over Victoria from November 22 to December 8. From Gippsland to Geelong, Ballarat to Bendigo, this year’s program includes a huge array of free and low-cost events and puts grassroots and regional venues centre stage, hosting everything from one-off shows and underplays to podcasts, conversations, and workshops.
ALWAYS LIVE’s curated program of unique and exclusive music moments, supported by the Victorian Government through Visit Victoria, continues to champion the state’s live music ecosystem, further cementing Victoria’s reputation as the live music capital of Australia. This first announcement unveils a staggering lineup; showcasing homegrown talent, the finest acts from around the country, and major international performances featuring over 289 artists, including 208 from Victoria in more than 65 events across the State, with 35% of the program through regional Victoria.
In a Victorian exclusive, ALWAYS LIVE, in partnership with UNTITLED GROUP, brings the genre-defining Anyma to Australasian shores for the first time ever for the epic live production, Anyma presents Genesys — Melbourne / Naarm. This follows his critically acclaimed debut albums “Genesys” (2023) and “Genesys II” (2024) and historic six-show sold-out residency at Sphere, Las Vegas.
Anyma, the solo project of Matteo Milleri, will showcase an unprecedented blend of mesmerising visual installations, avant-garde sound engineering, and awe-inspiring stage designs. Part digital artist, part electronic music creator, Anyma creates out-of-this-world event experiences that cement his reputation across the music industry as a pioneering visionary. This meticulously curated music and mind-blowing visual art project will be coming to Victoria only for ALWAYS LIVE on Saturday, November 23 at Flemington Racecourse which will see the largest screen in the Southern Hemisphere built for the occasion.
Exclusive to Australia and New Zealand, Californian punk rock legends The Offspring join the ALWAYS LIVE lineup with an intimate one-night-only show, ‘Light it Up,’ at The Forum Theatre presented with Destroy All Lines. Known for their high-energy performances and iconic hits like “Pretty Fly (for a White Guy),” “Self Esteem,” and “The Kids Aren’t Alright,” The Offspring have made an indelible mark on the music scene, becoming one of the most influential bands of their generation.
With a career spanning over three decades, the band have become synonymous with punk, delivering high-energy performances that have captivated audiences worldwide. The Offspring will bring their raucous sound to Melbourne in a rare opportunity to experience one of the genre’s most enduring bands up close. 2024 HIGHLIGHTS
At Mornington Racecourse on Saturday December 7, ALWAYS LIVE and Face to Face Touring supported by Smooth FM present Australian music icon Tina Arena live in concert, marking the 30th anniversary of her certified 10x platinum breakout smash hit album “Don’t Ask”. The legendary singer-songwriter, musician, musical theatre actress and record producer, who ranks among the highest selling Australian artists of all time will perform alongside co-headline Richard Marx (USA), with special guests including Oz music legends Daryl Braithwaite, Kate Ceberano, Southern Sons, and 1927 for ‘DON’T ASK…AGAIN’.
In partnership with Frontier Touring, ALWAYS LIVE presents a very special performance by beloved award-winning Victorian singer-songwriter and actor Missy Higgins. Capping off her sold-out national tour in celebration of the 20th anniversary of her landmark album “The Sound of White,” and in celebration of her forthcoming release, “The Second Act,” Missy will be joined by extra special guests Dan Sultan and Mia Wray for a beautiful outdoor summer event at Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Friday 6 December.
Appearing exclusively in Victoria for ALWAYS LIVE, in collaboration with Summer Camp, seminal Irish pop-disco icon, singer, songwriter and producer Roísín Murphy will perform a special headlining club set at ‘TRAMP’, as part of a monumental LGBTQIA+ friendly party at PICA (Port Melbourne Industrial Centre for the Arts). Murphy appears alongside Rico Nasty (USA), Bimini (UK DJ), Jaguar (UK), The Big Wet Absolute (UK) XXXperience and a huge cast of legendary local talent including Alex Morris, Bendy Ben, Club Confide, Dirty Versache, DJ Gay Dad, John Pants, Soju Gang and more across three stages.
In a run of Australian and New Zealand exclusive performances, ALWAYS LIVE and Frontier Touring present US rock powerhouse St. Vincent at the famed Palais Theatre in St. Kilda on Monday November 25 and at the newly refurbished Her Majesty’s Theatre in Ballarat on Tuesday November 26.
The hugely coveted ALWAYS LIVE “An Intimate Audience With …” event series returns in 2024, kicking off on Thursday November 28 in partnership with Crown and Frontier Touring with An Intimate Audience With St. Vincent. The return of this once-in-a-lifetime event series takes place high above the city skyline at The Aviary, Crown Melbourne, pairing an exclusive live performance and Q&A from the cult artist alongside a world-class curated dining experience.

As part of the new Live At The Gardens concert series at Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens, ALWAYS LIVE, MG Live and Roundhouse Entertainment present two very special events.
The first show on Friday, November 22, features Victorian alt-singer Chet Faker in an Australian/New Zealand exclusive with special guests Mildlife, marking the 10-year anniversary of his seminal album “Built on Glass.” Then on Sunday, November 24, multi-instrumentalist Tash Sultana performs an exclusive set with support from Coterie (NZ), South Summit, and Little Green.
Performing within the ALWAYS LIVE 2024 season will be Jack White (USA). Presented in collaboration with Frontier Touring, Jack White will play The Corner Hotel, Richmond on Saturday, December 7 and also Ballarat’s Civic Hall on Friday, December 6.
Gaba Musik, ALWAYS LIVE and Arts Centre Melbourne present the return of BLAKTIVISM on Friday 22 November. Renowned First Nations superstar, Baker Boy headlines this unique self-determined First Peoples event centred around songs and stories of protest. Supported by an incredible lineup of local and interstate First Nations artists including Uncle Bart Willoughby, Yung Warriors, Selwyn Burns, Amos Roach, Uncle Robbie Thorpe, Kulin Nations Songwomen, Deline Briscoe, Suga Cane Mamas, Tasman Keith, Brothers in Arms, Yirrmal and special guests.
Beloved Abbotsford rock and roll venue Lulie Tavern presents LULIEPALOOZA, a celebration of the most exciting emerging and established local and interstate live music acts of the year. On Saturday 23 November, the huge 2024 edition features performances from Starcrawler (USA) with Cash Savage & The Last Drinks, Battlesnake, Gooch Palms, Eagle & The Worm, Batpiss, Skyscraper Stan, Platonic Sex, Hana & Jessie Lee’s Bad Habits, The Miffs, Jaded & Milly Strange and House of Cheese DJs. Across two live stages, the festival will also feature offerings from local brewers, producers and food vendors, a mechanical bull, live skate demos via Melbourne institution “Fast Times” and more.
Jamaican Music and Food Festival returns to Williamstown’s Seaworks on Saturday December 7 for a day of festivities with the very best in DJs, artists, live music and food straight out of Jamaica featuring DIY sound systems, dance crews, community, and spirit. IN THE REGIONS
In partnership with Australia’s youth music organisation, The Push, and triple j Unearthed, ALWAYS LIVE 2024 will deliver a huge regional series through The Push All-Ages Tour. Beginning on Friday 22 November at The Maydale Pavilion, Horsham’s lineup will feature The Rions, South Summit and Jem Cassar-Daley. On Sunday 24 November, Pacific Avenue, Teenage Joans and special guests hit the stage at Vine Hotel in Wangaratta. West Geelong Town Hall on Friday 29 November will see performances from DICE and Good Sniff. And on Saturday 30 November the series finishes up at Bendigo Neighbourhood Hub with JACOTÉNE, Becca Hatch, INKABEE x FLEWNT, with additional supports across the four dates to be chosen via a triple j Unearthed competition.
In partnership with the Bush Music Fund ALWAYS LIVE presents a special four-stop Victorian tour by Maningridan all-female saltwater rock-n-roll group Ripple Effect with support from Amos Roach taking in The Bridge Hotel in Castlemaine, Pig & Whistle in Main Ridge with extra special guest Nola Lauch, Northcote Social Club and Murran First Nations Hub.
Gippsland audiences will be treated to the Yarns & Yodels tour by three-time Golden Guitar winning country star Brad Cox. Having taken home the Tamworth Country Music Festival’s top accolades for Male Artist, Contemporary Country Album “Acres” and Top Selling Australian Country Album, his Yarns & Yodels four date tour with Gena Rose Bruce and special guests will stop at Wonthaggi, Traralgon, Sale and Lake Tyers, presented with Lonely Lands Agency.
Audiences are invited to explore the vibrant culture of the Torres Strait Islands through Boite Voices Maiem: Songs of the Torres Strait Islands, a unique musical event led by proud Meriam musician and Artistic Director Deb Lowah Clark on Saturday 30 November at Melbourne Recital Centre, and Sunday December 1 at The Goods Shed Terminus Theatre in Ballarat. With rehearsals culminating in a grand performance, an un-auditioned choir of 150-200 voices will join Deb Lowah Clark and special guests to present songs that showcase the diversity and heritage of the Zenadth Kes through powerful, communal music-making. Folk Sounds will present renowned Australian folk and soul artists Steph Strings, Didirri and Kee’ahn as they embark on a four date regional tour across Gippsland performing at venues including Riverview Tavern, The Wedge Performing Arts Centre, Waterwheel Tavern and Phillip Island Winery presented by The Hills Are Alive and Lonely Lands Agency.

ALWAYS LIVE AT
ALWAYS LIVE 2024 shines the spotlight on Victoria’s iconic network of live music venues vital to its thriving live music sector, through the inaugural ‘ALWAYS LIVE AT…’ event series and providing unforgettable experiences for all who attend.
Celebrated Australian songwriter and musician Sarah Blasko performs in Castlemaine on December 5 at Theatre Royal with support from Jacob Diamond, and also at Northcote Theatre on December 6 with support from Queenie. Showcasing songs from her new album, “I Just Need To Conquer This Mountain” as well as material from her back-catalogue.
UK alternative rock group Bôa plays ALWAYS LIVE AT The Corner Hotel on Sunday December 1, in partnership with Handsome Tours. A mainstay of the UK alt-rock scene since their formation in 1993, in 2021 their 1998 hit “Duvet” saw a massive resurgence in popularity, with over 250,000 TikTok posts using the song. Amassing over 1 billion streams across their catalogue, they head to ALWAYS LIVE with a brand new album, “Whiplash”, in tow.
Presented by Handsome Tours, Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Andy Shauf performs three shows across Victoria as a part of the ALWAYS LIVE AT series. On Tuesday 3 December Shauf will perform with special guests at The Corner Hotel, Thursday December 5 at Volta in Ballarat and Friday December 6 at Theatre Royal in Castlemaine.
ARIA Award-winning band Birds of Tokyo will lead the celebrations of ‘ALWAYS LIVE AT The Chapel – the 25th Anniversary Series’. With this year marking 25 years since the iconic and intimate music series began in Prahran, stay tuned for the full series lineup announcement!
Australian actor, dancer, singer-songwriter and LGBTQIA+ activist Keiynan Lonsdale is curating an R&B exclusive lineup of Australia’s most exciting talent for ALWAYS LIVE AT The Evelyn: The Dragons of RNB in Melbourne on Saturday November 30.
Father and son rap duo, FLEWNT x INKABEE, perform at Shotkickers in Thornbury on Friday, November 29. Joshua “Flewnt” Eggington, an award-winning Nyoongar Wongi rapper from Boorloo (Perth), uses his raw Hip Hop flow and modern musings to deliver a powerful and uplifting message. His 11-year-old son, INKABEE, burst onto the Australian music scene in December 2022 with his debut track “Beat the Odds”.
On Saturday 30 November in Geelong ALWAYS LIVE and GRID Series present ALWAYS LIVE AT the Barwon Club featuring Baraka, The Kid, Wild Gloriosa, Ridzyray, Daisy Kilbourne and Manny Lado.
Eleanor Jawurlngali launches her new EP at Melbourne CBD venue The Toff in Town on Friday November 29. A Mudburra and Garrawa woman, Eleanor is a member of the critically acclaimed Kardajala Kirridarra, and the father/daughter duo Rayella. Her voice possesses a beautiful and ethereal quality, and alongside her frequent collaborators Mick Turner from the Dirty Three and the multi-award-winning cellist Stephanie Arnold, audiences will be guided on a journey that explores the essence of the music, rooted in ancient language, deep listening, and imagination. Eleanor will be joined on the night by special guest, and her father, Ray Dimakarri Dixon.
On Friday November 22, ALWAYS LIVE AT Max Watt’s will see US songwriter and rapper Anees perform a special set with support from PANIA. Between 2020 and 2021, rap-soul songs like “Neverland Fly” and “Slip” put Anees on the map, but it was 2022’s “Sun and Moon” that broke him to international audiences. Described by Anees as “a romantic little lullaby”, the R&B flavoured track climbed to number one on Billboard Philippines, where it stayed for 5 weeks as the first international song to top the chart.
In partnership with Jamaican Music and Food Festival, Anthony B (JA), DJ Banna (JA) and special guests will perform for ALWAYS LIVE AT Qroom in Thomastown on Saturday November 30, and Wednesday December 4 for ALWAYS LIVE AT Barwon Club, South Geelong.
On Saturday November 30 Victorian music podcast Dug By Us will present a special live recording as a part of ALWAYS LIVE AT The Workers Club. Hosted by Cassie Walker and Chris Holland and featuring house band The Naysayers and special guests to be announced.
And Tasman Keith, Sorong Samarai, Sprigga Mek (PNG), Desiz (PNG) and Deline Briscoe lead a huge lineup of First Nations and PNG hip hop stars as a part of ‘Meganesia’ at Melbourne’s The Curtin on Sunday November 24 presented with Gaba Music and guests.

These events span various genres and settings, allowing a broad range of audiences opportunity to connect with the outstanding artists delivered across the ALWAYS LIVE 2024 season.
END OF THE LINE returns to ALWAYS LIVE in 2024, bringing the family-friendly musical party to the last stop of Melbourne Metropolitan train lines – this year to delight audiences in Frankston and Belgrave.
On Saturday November 23 Metro Trains Melbourne and PBS present End Of The Line Belgrave featuring performances from The Slingers with support from FOOLS, Madi Colville, and 2023 Garage Band alumni Terra Rouge. Then on Saturday 30 November, Metro Trains Melbourne, Frankston City Council and PBS present End Of The Line Frankston, headlined by Cash Savage & the Last Drinks and featuring support from Full Flower Moon Band, Kiwat Kennell, and Erica Avenue.
Across ALWAYS LIVE’s final weekend, flagship youth music project Garage Band returns for a third season at Melbourne’s Fed Square on Sunday 8 December with over 20 bands comprising of 100+ young musicians aged between 16 and 21 performing live, many for the first time in front of an audience. And for the first time a special presentation of Garage Band will be hosted at Bunjil Place offering the opportunity for an additional 10 bands to perform in Narre Warren as a part Garage Band, Bunjil Placeon Saturday 7 December. Also at Melbourne’s Fed Square on Saturday December 7, ALWAYS LIVE, Skinnyfish Music and Fed Square present Yerambooee – an inclusive and interactive First Peoples celebration of traditional song and dance, using projections, lighting, smoke and fire. Yerambooee is Kulin for ‘Gathering’ and will celebrate the song, dance, community and coming together of both Wurrunjeri Woi-wurring and Yolŋu mobs singing and dancing atop a large sand circle. With a Welcome to Country by Aunty Joy Murphy and special performances from Don Winiba with Yolŋu performers, Wurrundjeri dancers, Djirri Djirri dancers and Bandok Tati.
Returning for its third ALWAYS LIVE season, NGV Australia presents Emma Donovan and friends: Live and Acoustic. The beloved, free, family friendly event curated by and featuring Emma Donovan live and acoustic alongside First Nations artists in the Wurrdha Marra Gallery at the NGVA Ian Potter Centre at Federation Square. Taking the stage with Emma on Sunday November 24 will be friends Deline Briscoe, David Arden, Candice Lorrae and Jayden Lillyst.
And marking the first day of ALWAYS LIVE on Friday 22 November, in partnership with Channel 7, Sunrise will present a free public performance from an iconic Victorian artist broadcast live from Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Market. Stay tuned for details to be announced closer to this special event!
ALWAYS LIVE will once again be teaming up with charity partner Support Act, with a $1 donation from selected tickets sold across the program, to assist Support Act’s continued work in development and implementation of a range of life-saving mental health prevention, education and training programs that strive to create a safe and thriving music industry for all, including dedicated culturally intelligent support for First Nations music workers.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
