Alexander Black’s latest single ‘Just Friends’ is an indie-rock pop anthem, the ultimate summer track with an unforgettable electro-pop guitar lead. Pivoting away from emo indie-rock styles, Alexander re-introduces himself with drastic sonic changes. A metamorphosis of sorts as an artist, this theme translates in ‘Just Friends’, where Alexander explores growth as a person.
‘Just Friends’ is ‘such a special little time capsule of self-reflections and realisations’, describes Alexander. After ‘experiencing online discourse in gay and queer spaces, I noticed patterns of trauma and learned behaviours affecting my own ability to connect with people and be emotionally available.’
‘So to me it represents subverting those tropes so I can grow as a person, and finding a way to tell those stories in a way that other queer people can connect with and have it be palatable and fun at the same time.’
Adelaide musician Alexander Black combines pop production aesthetics with a singer songwriter craft to produce attitude giving, energy filled works with meaningful messaging. Having grown up in suburban Adelaide, Alexander discovered music at the age of twelve, instantly consuming his life. Music provided Alexander with a much-needed purpose and a means to express his emotions, giving him a voice to tell his own stories and experiences.
Sharing music focused towards queer, sexually and gender diverse people, Alexander hopes to inspire emotional growth and understanding. Alexander is largely inspired by a mix of modern indie pop band The 1975, queer pop artists Troye Sivan, MUNA, and The Japanese House and more classic singer songwriters like Phoebe Bridgers, Father John Misty and Bob Dylan.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
