Parker Sounds is a pop-rock band from the Gold Coast drawing from influences such as Jack Johnson, The Killers, and Pearl Jam. The band’s exciting new sound starts off as main songwriter/lead vocalist Alick Kilsby writing simple, yet catchy acoustic tunes. The songs are then transformed by the band’s powerful vocals, happy-go-lucky keys and tasty guitar licks. Parker Sounds stays true to its roots with the acoustic guitar front and centre in every performance. Kilsby fell in love with music at age 15 and has been performing covers in the local Gold Coast scene for years, coming into his own with the formation of Parker Sounds. Securing a grant with the Scenic Rim Regional Council to record his debut album and “get my ideas out of my notebook and into the world”, the momentum is sure to continue throughout the year.

Kilsby explains that the new single “explores the story of the mental prison we all spend time in at some point in our lives – a place to question our choices and how it impacts who we are. This track was well received when played live in the short time before Covid-19 came to town.” First conceived on the acoustic guitar, “Prison Cell” was then sent to Tim Goodburn of Bignote Productions in Burleigh. Tim brilliantly crafted the musical direction for the track which was further enhanced by Parker Sounds member and up-and-coming Gold Coast producer Josh Beattie. With a roaring chorus that remains with listeners long after hearing “Prison Cell”, it’s no surprise Parker Sounds are being coined as one of the most exciting bands currently coming out of the Gold Coast.
