Hey Harriett’s latest single ‘Hearts In The Ocean’ is an ode to a long-distanced love story.
Front woman Georgy Rochow wrote the track when starting out on a long-distance relationship with her girlfriend. Sitting on the jetty at Henley Beach after an early morning airport drop-off, Georgy said ‘the words just fell out of me’. ‘‘Hearts in the ocean’ is a metaphor for the vastness I felt was between us’.

Georgy also describes the social anxiety she experiences and how this can affect her relationship saying, ‘While things make total sense on stage, walking with ease through everyday life isn’t my strong suite’. Georgy explains that the line ‘tell me did I get it all right’ is a cry of uncertainty and an over-analytical brain – the two things that can often wedge themselves between a relationship.
The melancholy subject matter is met with Hey Harriett’s signature energetic indie groove. With lush harmonies and fuzzy guitar tones, this is a track that dances between heartfelt gooey-ness and angsty longing.
Hey Harriett is an eclectic combination of five young, spirited, Adelaide musicians, united by songwriter and front woman Georgy Rochow. The alternative, indie pop group came to fruition in 2017, and has made leaps and bounds in the Adelaide music scene.
