Adelaide-based independent artist Holas May kicks off his 2020 with his new single ‘Protest’ available on all streaming platforms February 7th.
Protest is a topical song that discusses the artist’s call for action on climate change. It represents an outburst of emotion which is a great outlet for his ideas that no doubt his peers are also feeling towards the current Australian Government, calling on his leaders to act and mitigate the effects of climate change. Australia’s recent catastrophic bushfires and its lack of resolution are the primary issues being targeted in the new offering. The idea of ‘Protest’ is to reflect the frustration felt by the majority of the youth in Australia towards the government, a bold move from the newly discovered Adelaide emcee, who shows no fear in exercising his free speech.
“I really wanted to reflect the frustration felt by not only the youth but also the majority of the country; the cover art shows what climate change can do if we don’t seriously take action on it. I’m not an expert in the field but all I know that this affects ALL of us.” – Holas May
Holas continuously works on creating timely and relevant music, taking inspiration from old school poets and legends like Tupac and Busta Rhymes to more contemporary modern artists such as Kanye West and Drake. Cuts from his first release ‘Confidence Found’ received support from Triple J’s Home & Hosed presenter Declan Byrne last year which came off the back of his success earlier in 2019 being featured on Fresh 92.7 and receiving a nomination for ‘People’s Choice Hip Hop Artist’ at the South Australian Music Awards.
Holas isn’t doubling back and will continue to utilize his music as a meaningful purpose to trigger change this new year. You can stay up to date with further details of his projects and future shows via his socials below!

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
