Emerging dark pop artist JOSHUA drops his brooding new single, ‘Artificial Flavour’, on July 25. Written as a reaction to comments challenging the artist’s integrity, JOSHUA juxtaposes the title by decrying any artificiality in his project. Focusing on sparse production, JOSHUA samples his own voice to craft original synth textures and build layer-upon-layer of vocals, drawing the listener into a world all his own.
“Everything I do, I want to do with integrity. That and honestly, are my absolute core values so when someone came along and said ‘originality in songwriting is just something we’re super passionate about’, I was really thrown because I feel the same. For them to go ahead and say something of mine lacked those elements, it really challenged me to reevaluate my approach. I still don’t believe what they were referring to wasn’t original, but I still wanted to use that moment to really own myself. Now, I wrote this song 3 years ago but it’s taken a few years for me to get where I wanted to be vocally and production-wise, but it’s also coming out at a very integral point of my personal life. After a long journey, I am finally embracing my bisexuality and being even more unapologetic about who I am and what I have to offer to the world.”
Flexing his impressive skill set, JOSHUA wrote, produced and mixed the song on his own, ensuring his hands were responsible for every component that went into it. ‘Artificial Flavour’ is JOSHUA’s second release for 2024, following the generational trauma exploration in ‘Ghost’.

Combining honest songwriting with an infectious dark pop sound, JOSHUA is an artist unafraid to explore complex emotions.
Hailing from the west-coast town of Mandurah, Australia, the art-teacher-turned-songwriter follows in the footsteps of Troye Sivan, 5SOS, Thomston and Charlie Puth, using songwriting to process and distill his emotional landscape. With the advent of acts like Lorde, Banks and Flume, JOSHUA taught himself music production and songwriting, with only YouTube and his instincts to guide him, developing a knack for catchy hooks and manipulating sounds to draw in his listeners.
Since the beginning, JOSHUA has striven to craft a musical identity all his own, where his songs are heavy with cinematic imagery and unconventional rhymes, taking his listeners on a dynamic journey. Obsessed with duality, JOSHUA thrives in the push-pull nature of life experiences, pairing straight-from-the-heart lyrics with crystalline synths, thumping beats and dark gritty basslines.
JOSHUA has garnered media coverage from HappyMag, The Music, AusPop, AAA Backstage, Buzz Magazine, Plastic Magazine, Pop Passion, Illustrate Magazine, triple j unearthed, and Australian Music Scene, and boasts collaborations with MSQUARED (Casey Barnes, C.WATTS), Cam Nacson (Samantha Jade, Sian Fuller), Janeva Burrill (Glades, Alex Newell) and Rahel Phillips (Ruel, Billy Davis), Chelsea Warner (Emalia, Ūla), Cyrus Villanueva (Charley, Cody Jon) and ETHAN (Isadora).
A creative powerhouse, JOSHUA writes, produces, mixes, has shot and edited his own past promotional photos, designs all his own branding and merch, and creates social media and visual assets. JOSHUA is set to become a force to be reckoned with.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
