Resurrecting from a hiatus from music, multi-instrumentalist, Perth-based singer/songwriter and visual artist, Morgan Joanel releases her haunting new single ‘Buy A Little Time’, the beginning of a new era for the alt-pop artist.

‘Buy A Little Time’ is the lead single from her forthcoming EP, a project funded by her loyal following in which $12k was raised with a Kickstarter campaign so that she could bring the 5-track EP, as well as an accompanying art exhibition and visuals, to life. This is the first batch of music heard from Joanel in some time and marks the start of the two trajectories of her music and visual art coming together into one concept.

Emotion comes first in ‘Buy a Little Time’ as Joanel’s alluring vocals take the reins, complemented by surreal guitar riffs and enchanting drum loops. On the track, Joanel states “the song is about a form of regret in love, trying to re-frame or re-write a history so it can be something more kind and positive in memory.”

Teaming up with ARIA Award winning producer Adrian Breakspear (Gang of Youths) and Dave Parkin (Tired Lion, Abbe May), the leading track ‘Buy A Little Time’ is rattled with a raw, soulful edge that tangles stirring harmonies and intriguing production, something the loop-pedal artist then re-imagines live on stage. Joanel explains, “having complete control of the vision for my music has been amazing over this past year, it feels like I’ve been able to capture the essence of how it feels to actually create it.“

No stranger to playing alongside international superstars, Morgan Joanel’s eclectic mix of tones and captivating live performances have earned her main support slots with acts such as Newton Faulkner, Adam Lambert and Jason Derulo. Recently, UK pop-sensation Anne-Marie found Joanel playing whilst exploring Perth and personally invited her to open for her headline show the following evening. 

With a vision of evocative music and artistic live looping, Morgan Joanel is returning to the journey she started a little time ago, challenging her expressions through fresh mediums.
