What was said about the previous single ‘Stronger’:

“Bringing it from beginning to end, this enjoyable tune had a 90s charm to it with a hint of rural charm and a sweet pinch of swagger too.” Nkechi Anele triple j Roots and All

Hailing from the regional South Australian town of Mannum, River Lane isn’t your run of the mill musician. River started working life on the tools as a tradie. Not the typical space for a woman that’s for sure.  River’s also a champion water skier. You can sometimes see her carving up the Murray River! Tradie – skier – musco! You’ve got to admire a person that doesn’t do things by numbers!

In 2017 River released the debut  ‘EP ‘Time’ which picked up airplay via the ABC and Community radio. Subsequent  singles ‘Head High’ and ‘Stronger’ scored spins on triple j and Double J. Plus some of the most credible show’s on Community radio such as 2ser’s ‘Dirt Music’.

This brings us to the new track ‘Ghost Of A Girl’. The haunting Alt Country qualities of ‘Ghost Of A Girl’ has the capacity to linger long after the song is done. It’s almost like it was written for that certain scene in a movie.

‘Ghost of a girl to me is about growing up and leaving my innocence behind. It’s about accepting who I am now and the decisions I have made whether right or wrong but never forgetting where I’ve come from’ – River Lane

River’s earliest music influences was via her Dad – I grew up listening to my Dad’s collection of mostly 70s rock. Seeing how excited he got over a song made me realise the power of it. He always has a story about where he was when he heard that song. I want to write a song that becomes a soundtrack to someone’s greatest moments. I was always too shy to sing in public but it didn’t stop me from learning a few different instruments growing up. It wasn’t until I turned 22 that I somehow found the courage and I’ve never looked back.’ River Lane

Thumbing her way through her record collection- River digs into the artists that influenced her growing up such as – Mumford & Sons, Fleetwood Mac, Lynyrd Skynyrd & Cheap Trick to name but a few.

In the meantime dig into Ghost Of A Girl.

Ghost Of A Girl will be digitally released
on 12th July 2019
