Ipswich’s self-professed prophet of prose, alt-electro-rock musician DAMIEN has given the world a glimpse of what to expect on his next studio album, with the release of the first single.

Titled, ‘Love Myself’, DAMIEN delivers up a dark, heavy, synth driven song, drawing influence from industrial and darkwave artists such as Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails.

‘Love Myself’ is written in response to the cliched sentiment that, ‘to love another you must first love yourself’, and is a self-declaration that ‘I do love myself’. The song affirms independence and self-appreciation, but also asserts that our previous partners, irrespective of how toxic they or our relationships were, can also be our teachers, empowering us to become more whole and complete versions of ourselves, by ourselves.

The single,  is the first to be released from DAMIEN’s forthcoming album, titled, ‘Wrong Age. Wrong Race. Wrong Gender.’ . which carries an overall theme of coming to terms with one’s own identity and struggles with self-hatred and self-doubt and is directly influenced by DAMIEN’s own experience of himself as a queer, non-binary artist with bi-polar disorder. It was titled due to the human tendency throughout history to favor or despise people based on age, race and gender.

‘Love Myself’ was written and produced by DAMIEN in his home studio in Ipswich QLD, mixed by Hugh Middleton of Out With The In studios, West End, QLD, and mastered by Matthew Gray (Brisbane). DAMIEN performed all instruments on the song.

Since emerging in 2020, DAMIEN has quickly become recognized as an artist hell bent on causing a musical shift that disrupts toxic social structures and urges humanity towards greater love and compassion for one another. He has performed to sell-out crowds and earned critical acclaim for his energy and crowd engagement during his performances.

DAMIEN has received national and international airplay and has frequently featured in local, national and international publications. His ‘Your Woman’ music video, released earlier this year has been heavily praised for its support of transgender people and awareness of issues faced by the transgender community.

Ipswich’s self-professed prophet of prose, alt-electro-rock musician DAMIEN is a queer, non-binary artist who powerfully pushes against mainstream conventions with poignant, post-punk political commentaries and calls for social activism.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.

Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
