From experience to art, Newcastle Neo Soul vocalist Zi debuts her cathartic breakout single, 24, set to be released on Wednesday the 24th of March.
Produced by Tim Botor and mixed at the legendary 301, Zi enters the scene with a polished and professional sound. The moody production draws elements from R&B, trap and electronica – with a key driven melody, swelling, layered vocals and triplets.
Taking influence from Rhianna, Summer Walker, Jorja Smith and Ella Mai, Zi dances the line between R&B, Hip Hop and Soul. Expect deep transportive lyrics, swaying emotions and a vocal range to supplement the tumultuous themes presented.
“24 is a special song to me because it’s my first release but also because it’s a song of raw emotion. The lyrics reflect an unhealthy relationship and the different problems it faced.”
24 is the result of cathartic writing, with the track rising and falling, mirroring the turbulence of an on again off again relationship. Zi presents moments of pure confidence, sadness and vulnerability both lyri- cally and sonically throughout the track.
2020 is shaping up to be a big year for the young Novocastrian, seeing Zi link up with local legend Jayteehazard for her sophomore release.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
