“There’s something sugar-sweet about the way your drums hit like a water droplet in the chorus instrumental. The colour of summer, through and through.” Tommy Faith, Triple J Unearthed.

“If you like The 1975, you like AYA J. Such a shimmery, glowy, summer track! “ Ash McGregor, Triple J.

“As we are seeing, people are jumping aboard the AYA J train and what a ride. Great songs. These guys are going from strength to strength. Cannot wait to see what the future holds for these superstars.” Mark Ross, Koori Radio.

Gold Coast electronic pop duo AYA J have been named finalists of the 2021 Queensland Music Awards for their song ‘Tenth Street’, alongside Miiesha, Eleea, and Beddy Rays in the Indigenous category.

Jesswar, Jungle Giants, Tia Gostello, Eves Karydas, SYCCO and, Mallrat are among other names nominated for a Queensland Music Award. The event is set to be held at The Fortitude Music Hall on Wednesday 5 May 2021 in Brisbane.

AYA J today unveil the official ‘Tenth Street’ music clip and announce the details of their first-ever live shows in Melbourne, Gold Coast, Sydney, and Brisbane.

AYA J is made up of Angus Field, Gumbaynggirr singer-songwriter from Coffs Harbour, and drummer Sam Miller, from Idaho, USA.  Making their debut in 2020 with their EP ‘Tenth Street’, the pair are now set to tour their EP in May 2021 and release diverse new songs throughout the year.

‘Tenth Street’ was produced by German and Australian-based writer and producer Jobrizz (Joachim Mueller) who is known for his work with some of the most prolific names in electro, pop, and EDM including The Stafford Brothers, Potbelleez, Timberland, Neyo, and Timmy Trumpet.

Of the video release Angus shares “Tenth Street is a song I wrote in 2020 about the feeling of being away from someone for a long time but still holding onto and always wanting that one person. It is assuring someone that no matter how far away I will get, they will always be the one person on my mind. The song came about when I had a close relationship with a girl but for certain reasons, I wasn’t able to see her for quite some time.”

“ I feel the lyrics in the song outline the story of what I was trying to portray and hopefully others can relate to it as well.” Angus Field, Singer/songwriter, AYA J

The video was directed by Coffs Harbour filmmaker Daniel McDonald who said “I wanted this to be a fun performance video that matched the feel of the song. We built indoor setups for live performance and used props to create a stylized look for the video. Lots of light, colour, and interesting aesthetics throughout that matched the vibe of ‘Tenth Street’.” Daniel McDonald, Lead, Fifty Film

” The final video was a huge adaptation of our original plan which was to film on the open road of Coffs Harbour. Enormous flooding on the east coast forced us to change our concept. In under 24 hours, our team worked tirelessly to build and gather props from all over Coffs Harbour and pull the clip together. We couldn’t be happier with how the video has turned out.” Sam Miller, AYA J
