In anticipation of her forthcoming Piano Salt EP, Angie McMahon is excited to reveal a new music video to accompany the EP rendition of her stunning song ‘Soon’, plus announce Kind Face Creative will present the global re-screening of her Online Solo Piano Concert, due to popular demand on Wednesday 7 October 2020.
Part tour diary, part isolation documentation, the video was shot by sound engineer and tour manager, Jono Steer and Angie herself over the few months from their November 2019 American tour with Hozier and their stark return to Melbourne’s 2020 locked down living.
This brilliantly captured display of still life and field imagery, edited by Lewis Parsons, acts as a microcosm of touring life. The video presents a candid juxtaposition of the ebb and flow of pace, the shifts in energy and both the lack of and abundance of human connection that constantly follows an artist on the road.
“This is a mixture of footage from my home in lockdown, when everything went slow, and the Hozier tour that I joined in November last year when everything was moving so fast. We were travelling around America, my sound engineer Jono and I, following the Hozier bus and having our own adventures every day. I’m so grateful he kept the go pro on for that month, and that the audiences were so warm, and that I have a safe and comfortable home to slow down in now. Thank you to our friend Lewis Parsons who edited all of this together so flawlessly.” – Angie McMahon

“The way that Lewis has cut together the footage is brilliant. It really shows the contrast between the three parts of being a touring musician – the shows, the travel and the calm of getting home after it all. The coming together of this footage and the melancholy mood of the music creates something that hasn’t really been shown before, and that is the loneliness and isolation of being on the road. It also shows that behind all the glitz and glamour of the concert, there are people – musicians, crew, managers – who have homes to get to, and jobs to do. It’s one of the most honest depictions of touring I’ve seen and I’m glad to have been a part of it!” – Jono Steer
For the Online Solo Piano Concert re-screen on Wednesday 7 October, Angie McMahon will welcome 22-year-old LA native, Jensen McRae (solo guitar) to perform. Jensen is a bi-racial black and Jewish woman who has grown up predominantly in white spaces. Jensen’s music explores aspects of identity, race, gender, depression and unrequited love. Jensen is currently working on her debut album with Grammy Award-winning producer, Rahki (Eminem, Kendrick Lamar).
Elements of Angie’s riveting, stripped-down companion piece to last year’s debut album Salt (Top 5 ARIA album) were recorded during this online concert. Angie says of the concert, “Piano is the first instrument I learnt and the one that made me first love singing… the concert and EP feels like a return to my piano-cover-loving inner kid.”
The Piano Salt EP is a project that includes a couple of Angie’s favourite covers including Bruce Springsteen’s ‘The River’ recorded live at The Perch Recording Studio and is available today on DSPs along with this stunning video on Angie’s Youtube channel.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
