Auckland-based rapper and artist JessB is set to release her highly anticipated new single “Moment” on May 26th, 2023. The introspective track produced by Dutch’s MOW Music which Jess wrote in solitude, explores the intricacies of desiring something that cannot be attained despite a strong desire for it. “Moment” delves into the ephemerality of relationships and how emotions can overpower logic, leading us to pursue things that are ultimately short-lived.

To support the release of “Moment,” JessB will embark on a five-date co-headlining tour with Sydney-based Gold Fang in June and July. The tour will take them to Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Auckland, and Wellington. This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity for fans to experience the new single in an intimate live setting and witness JessB’s captivating performances.

She says: ‘Moment’ builds on a sound already explored in my last project ‘3 Nights in Amsterdam’ , and looks to expand on it. Since the release of ‘3 Nights In Amsterdam’ I have really looked to develop my songwriting, particularly with a melodic lens and to become more confident with singing/ expressing in this way. The marrying of these two parts, whilst also keeping the rap element that I am known for is the perfect way to introduce this next era of my musical journey.’

JessB has performed at major festivals such as SXSW, The Great Escape, BIGSOUND, Listen Out, Laneway and more. She has also shared the stage with an array of top-notch artists, including Stormzy, Kehlani, Kranium, Genesis Owusu, Kaiit, and Baker Boy.

Apart from her live performances, JessB has served as a brand ambassador for Samsung and has collaborated with companies such as Red Bull, Foot Locker, Ksubi and more. Her distinctive sound and captivating performances have caught the attention of various media outlets, including Afropunk, Vice, Acclaim, Sniffers, NME, Viva and Pilerats. JessB’s music has also garnered support from Triple J, MAI FM and George FM receiving spot rotation and full rotation.

The “Moment” Music Video was shot and directed by Connie Cash (Paloma Schneideman and Shaquille Wasasala aka HALF QUEEN). Previously they have worked on videos for JessB, “Set It Off”, “So Low” and “Bullseye”.

JessB says: “As with the majority of my music videos – this one would have been unable to achieve without the support and involvement of my friends and community. The video was filmed in a local venue “Neck of the Woods” over the course of an evening. The inclusion of Ajani Russel (NYC) as my love interest happened by chance – we had a mutual connect us on their visit to Auckland, and we have actually gone on to be really good friends ourselves! The whole premise of the video was based on capturing a “moment” between two people. The idea party may be full but you can only see one other person is something we wanted to create a snapshot of”.

Since emerging as a dynamic breath of fresh air in New Zealand’s music scene, JESSB has taken that early momentum and has created it into a proper whirlwind. Mixing afro-inspired diasporic sounds, both high energy & introspective, JESSB is becoming a force to be reckoned with both at home and around the globe.

Collaborating with acts such as Saweetie, Kranium, G Flip, Stan Walker and Baker Boy, JESSB is also a MTV European Music Award winner.
