The third round of the Victorian Government’s Good Music Neighbours program opens today with grants of up to $25,000 available per venue in matched funding.
The grants assist venues to improve sound attenuation in their venues minimising the impact on surrounding homes and businesses.
Since the program began, more than $500,000 has been invested in more than 50 Victorian venues, having a massive impact on small businesses and providing a platform for emerging artists to tour Victoria’s thriving live music scene.

Part of the Andrews Labor Government’s $22 million four-year Music Works package, Good Music Neighbours has helped venues big and small with their sound needs, funding everything from acoustic assessments to major soundproofing works.
Recently 22 venues across Victoria including The Bridge Hotel (Castlemaine), The Evelyn Hotel (Fitzroy) and 24 Moons (Northcote) have received acoustic assessment funding, the important first step in the process of managing and understanding a venue’s sound management and maintaining good relations within its community.
“Good Music Neighbours and Agent of Change legislation has been amazing for The Night Cat. Good Music Neighbours match funded $25,000 worth of soundproofing works including airlocks front and rear of the venue and insulated window coverings at the front of the venue, acoustic ceiling tiles, acoustic filling for hollow stages, theatrical drapes and more. Victorian Government, Creative Victoria are leading the way in how to achieve great results for venues and to keep venues open for music lovers” – Justin Stanford (The Night Cat)
Applications can be made via the Creative Victoria Grants Portal from Thursday 29 March to Thursday 26 April, 5.00pm.
