Fresh from the psychedelic haze of their last cosmic release ‘Coma’, Brisbane indie-rockers The Jensens are delving deep into eclectic art-rock fusion with sequel ‘Mount Mura’ (premiered yesterday via the AU review). Paired with the announcement of their debut album Hyacinth Haze, this second glimpse continues to solidify the band’s wildly futuristic sound.

The anticipated, long awaited LP is the result of The Jensens locking themselves away in the studio, experimenting and recording for the better part of a year. A bi-product of this fresh, reinvigorated sound, ‘Mt. Mura’ melds funk, disco, indie and alt rock elements, driven by a chorus of woozy harmonies, pulsating basslines and slick guitar riffs.

While musically upbeat, lyrically the track follows a darker, more introspective mood, “It’s about the scars inflicted on people when they’re young, by adults who seemingly don’t actually mean what they say or do. They act in accordance with their beliefs, unaware of the emotional, lifelong damage they cause.” singer/guitarist Joseph White explains.

With two EP’s already released, the youthful Everybody Talks (2016) and the melancholic Sexless (2017), The Jensens have since gone on to share the stage with the likes of The Vaccines, Last Dinosaurs, Spiderbait and Twin Peaks. Adept festival stage rockers too, The Jensens have performed at tastemaker events such as The Blurst of Times, Mountain Goat Valley Crawl, Valley Fiesta, Jungle Love and the inaugural Grampians Music Festival.

Laying a foundation of trademark sounds and developing a loyal fanbase in their hometown, The Jensens are now looking towards the horizon to deliver something uniquely theirs. With two transcendent singles teasing the anticipated release of Hyacinth Haze, it’s only a matter of time until their incomparable debut album drops.
