Ash Lune today returns with a striking new single and video ‘Before’. Following her impressive debut ‘Panic At The Party’, the Mumbai born, Brisbane based artist today also reveals details of her forthcoming body of work. Ash Lune’s debut EP titled ‘Broken Science Experiments’ will be released independently on 11 February 2022.
Standing as the final song written for the EP, Lune describes the heart-wrenching inspiration behind the lyrics of ‘Before’. “It feels like I’ve waited to be happy my whole life. When you reach goals, you just set new ones and then you’re anxious and waiting to be happy again,” she explains. “This song is the realisation that even though I’m living my dream and my circumstances have changed for the better, my brain is still my brain and I’ve been here before. I’ve been in that paralysing mental state before. The scenery is different but the feeling remains.”
‘Before’ arrives in tandem with an equally gorgeous visual which premiered overnight with CLASH who declare “Already a phenomenon, Ash Lune’s sparkling touch and emotional honesty have caught a whirlwind of attention.” The video was directed by Brisbane director Joshua Tate, who describes how it came together. “Ash and I worked together to develop a visual concept that reflects the song’s emotional narrative – this sense of being stuck in an endless loop of negative self-talk. She had the idea of basing the visuals around a house of mirrors which I loved so we built mirror walls and then spent a day in the studio playing around with the set ups to achieve a connective, reflective yet surreal atmosphere. It was really beautiful!”
An old soul, with her serene, verdant, piano-led pop songs, Ash Lune wants to take listeners back to a simpler time of being, an era of plaintive love songs and aching hearts, of deftly written paeans to heartbreak and classicist, deeply-felt balladry. And that’s exactly what we can expect to hear on ‘Broken Science Experiments’ – the debut six track EP from a perceptive new voice of an anxious generation in need of calm.

Her touching first single ‘Panic At The Party’ perked the ears of many throughout the world receiving airplay with UK’s BBC Radio 1 and locally on Triple J. US title Notion claimed “Poignant piano and string instrumentals give way to the delicate, lofty vocals” and DIY named the single “A heartstring-pulling introduction about social anxiety, her delicate vocals over the soaring backing mirror the kind of magic Taylor Swift often conjures in her songwriting.” ‘Panic At The Party’ a deeply relatable tale of emotional disconnect.
Four further tracks join the aforementioned singles on ‘Broken Science Experiments’, each delving deeper into the soul of a young artist unafraid to wear her heart on her sleeve. Opener ‘I’ll See You Tomorrow’ gorgeously sets the scene for the musical journey we’re about to be taken on – like peering into a private journal – with ‘Bombay’ being an ode to Lune’s heritage. ‘Sleepwalk’ is the EP’s stunning bookend, with it’s almost country twang featuring a pining steel guitar riff and rousing drum beat set against Lune’s signature lyricism – that of deep honesty and gut-wrenching yearning.
At 24 years of age, Lune has always been an avid listener, a quiet student of the modern classics she and her brother would scour the internet for in the early-2000s. Artists like Two Door Cinema Club, Avril Lavigne, Iron & Wine, and Bon Iver’s variety and artistic integrity helped Lune develop her own sense of style and passion. Across her music, Lune excavates the deepest recesses of her heart in order to create music that speaks to everyone, across seas, across cultures, and across all walks of life.
On 11 February, Ash Lune will hand over her ‘Broken Science Experiments’. “This is for anyone who’s going through a hard time or going through a breakup, or who doesn’t know what they’re doing with their lives.” In other words: this is music for everyone.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
